The elegant spa town of Harrogate has some of England’s finest Victorian architecture. Lush greenery and colourful flowers also add to the stately atmosphere.
The main attraction is the Turkish Baths and Health Spa, in a 19th-century building which maintains its original Moorish interior design. Nearby is the Royal Pump Room Museum, set over Europe’s strongest sulphur well and detailing the town’s history.
One ongoing Harrogate institution is Bettys Tea Rooms which serves fabulous afternoon tea. Surrounded by the unique shops of the Montpellier Quarter, it overlooks gardens which continue south to meet The Stray – over 200 acres of parkland whose vibrant spring blossom is quite a sight. On the opposite side of town are the Grade II-listed Valley Gardens, whose bandstand hosts summer concerts. The gardens merge into a pine wood which neighbours the acclaimed RHS Harlow Carr Gardens.
Aside from its visual beauty, the town is also important for conferences. Harrogate International Centre is one of the UK’s top convention venues - just one of the reasons why the accommodation industry here is thriving.
Options on Booking.com include 5-star hotels with spas, cheap apartments near the train station, and guest houses with parking. The nearest airport is Leeds Bradford Airport to the south.

From the Victorian baths, to the beautiful meandering park adjacent to the town centre, the vast array of shops to some wonderful restaurants and authentic Tea Rooms (‘Bettys’ is a highlight) - Harrogate is a place we continue to visit year on year and never tire of.

We loved Harrogate and the people/staff we experienced were exceptional, we will be back. Bettys tea room got ticked of the bucket list, amazing experience, wouldn't order afternoon tea again, value for money was poor but additional cream/Custard slice was lush

I enjoyed seeing the historical Victorian buildings, including the old baths. There are plenty of pretty small streets to explore in the town centre with some lovely shops. Sadly there are many empty shops as there are in most parts of the UK at the moment. There were some delightful independent restaurants. The best thing was a visit to the Turkish baths. It was very relaxing and the original decor was lovely.

Harrogate is a busy town with lots of shops and restaurants.
Harrogate is a busy town with lots of shops and restaurants. It has attractive buildings and lots of places to visit within a bus ride away such as Riply Castle which is in an beautiful little village with gift shops, tea rooms and of course the castle and grounds. Harrogate is definitely worth a visit although despite being a little expensive to shop and eat. The Turkish Baths are an enjoyable and relaxing experience where you can use the steam rooms, hot rooms and cold plunge pool. This was a great experience.

Great Central Hotel all be it at the bottom of the hill in Harrogate. Fantastic location for the attached conference centre.
Room was comfortable and typical crowne plaza layout and facilities. Peaceful 2 nights sleep. The Executive lounge which was included in the room was comfortable with hot and cold drinks 24 hours. Great breakfast...buffet style with a small menu to order specials....all the staff were great and friendly
Great location in the heart of Harrogate.
A lot closer to the convention centre than I expected. I’ve stayed in many hotels in Harrogate and the walk to the convention centre was much easier and quicker than hotels that were advertised as being closer to it on the booking.com website.
Breakfast was really good, with lots of choices. Bed was really comfortable. Our room had a lovely bath and shower.
Room was very well equipped and very clean. Beds very comfortable and lovely, spacious bathroom. Little extras were provided and much appreciated. Great communication from hotel prior to arrival.
