An absolutely recommendable hotel that exceeded our expectations! The warm and familiar atmosphere, combined with the outstanding hospitality of the staff, made us feel at home from the very beginning. Every request was promptly and attentively fulfilled. The food was a daily highlight – varied, fresh, and incredibly delicious. The pool was always clean and provided a wonderfully relaxing environment. A special mention goes to the perfectly organized safari, which was arranged for us in no time. We enjoyed our stay so much that we spontaneously extended it by several days. A lovely peaceful oasis, everything was of the highest standard. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and nicely presented, and the food was delicious and based on fresh local ingredients. We stayed there after a week of self driving and camping in the Serengeti and found it very restoring relaxing and lying by the pool for a day. One extra thing we really appreciated was their attention to limiting waste. Eg there was no unnecessary packaging or plastic eg no single use shampoo bottles, even the straws were metal. Environmental friendliness fits well with the whole Heart and Soul Package. A special thanks to Claudia for being so friendly and welcoming at every meal!

One of the best lodges during our safari! The staff was incredibly friendly, and we had great conversations with them. Their attention to detail was outstanding. They even helped me to get my toothbrush back from another hotel :) Good was so gooooooood.
The pool area was amazing, and the views from the lodge were breathtaking.
I don’t understand some of the reviews saying the tents are dark—you can literally open them almost all the way around without worrying about mosquitoes, as everything is covered with nets. The bathroom had a fantastic shower, and everything was spotlessly clean.
We truly enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed longer!

Karatu offers resorts and staycations through a range of properties. Make sure they are at least 2Kms or more from town, as the town area is too dusty especially during dry season. Only the Main Road is of bitumen, most of the side roads are muddy and kicks up too much brown dust.
