The owners were so adamant for preparing for the upcoming storm and put the safety of their customers first. They were so accommodating for changes in schedule due to the storm. They are very joyful people and the days at the beach were incredible and very well planned out. Thank you!

The house is small, but just enough for a family. There's a nice and big garden around the house and you have a nice view to the lush green hills around. This is much nicer than staying in any of the hotels on the island. Children can play in the garden. There's a small grocery store literally right in front of the property, so if you plan to prepare food, you don't have to bring any. (There's also another supermarket within walking distance.) It is very peaceful. The kitchen is equipped with basic dishes, cutlery, etc.
We forgot our daughter's bike helmet when we left and we would not even have noticed had the ferry staff not later asked us if we had lost a helmet. Apparently, the owners of the house took the helmet and left it with the ferry staff, describing our car and then the staff approached us. So we got the helmet back and we appreciate very much how the owners went out of their way to make sure we receive it. Thank you very much.

I together with my family recently stayed at Kerama Blue Resort, and I can't express enough how impressed I was by the kindness and helpfulness of the staff. During my stay, I left my luggage at the hotel and requested that it be sent to Zamami Port at 3:40 PM so I could catch the 4 PM ferry to Naha. However, I had mistakenly read the schedule, and the ferry was actually departing at 3 PM.
In a stroke of incredible service, the hotel staff realized my mistake and went out of their way to find me at the beach, informing me of the situation. They quickly made all the necessary arrangements to ensure I could continue my journey as planned. Their proactive approach and dedication saved me from missing the ferry, which would have resulted in an unexpected extra day on Zamami Island and disrupted the rest of my trip.
I am deeply grateful for their help and cannot thank them enough. Their genuine care and swift action turned a potential disaster into a seamless travel experience. I highly recommend Kerama Blue Resort to anyone visiting Zamami island– the staff truly go above and beyond!

The beach here really is one of the best in Japan, maybe one of the best in the world.
Crabs and coral and beautiful seashells everywhere. It's so natural.
Beautiful white sand and blue sea.
Best of all is under the water. Coral gardens, colorful fish, sea turtles

Tokashiki is the largest of the Kerama Islands.
Tokashiki is the largest of the Kerama Islands. There are some great spots for swimming, snorkeling, and diving from the shore, but a boat trip will be required for some of the other spots, particularly the northern portion of the island. The roads are narrow, but it's worth touring around the island on some of the back roads for the various views and wildlife.

The December water was warm enough to swim without wet suits, It was off season with few guests. They still made great buffet meals, and were very helpful. No nearby restaurants were open. I would go again and stay longer.

Beaches are terrific.
Beaches are terrific. Go to Aharen Beach early in the morning or after 5 in the evening to avoid the lifeguard Stasi and all their restrictions. The water and coral and fish are terrific. Did a nighttime nature tour with a local guide (no link but his poster is up (in Japanese) at Marine Palace and the staff called him to arrange) that was unforgettable. Owls! A snake. So many crabs. Lizards and geckos. Enormous spiders. So cool.
Overall the island has a very un-Japanese Margaritaville feel. The single restaurant in Aharen Beach, open only after 18:30, is excellent!

If you aren't planning on staying on Tokashiki, at least make the day trip to the island via the ferry. The water, beach coral, and fish are amazing to see. If your lucky enough plan 3 nights there. It is worth it.
