Beautiful area with super beach, staff very friendly and above all helpful. There is also a restaurant and shop inside with reasonable prices. They will also take care of getting you to the hotel from the ferry dock as well as taking you back. The rooms are neat, we had the top floor overlooking the beach and it is really worth the price.
HOTEL KANALOA offers free WiFi throughout the property and rooms with air conditioning in Tokashiki. There is a restaurant serving Japanese cuisine, and free private parking is available.

Tokashiki is a piece of paradise on earth and staying at Kanaloa was the best decision I made when booking this escapade.
Initially planning to stay for 3 nights, I extended for 2 more and had to stop there because I had to go home, otherwise I could have easily spent another week at this place.
The staff whole staff was absolutely amazing. Always available, super caring and exceptionally professional. The owner fell in love with the island when he came to visit it during a school trip during his youth. He worked hard to buy and renovate a building in Tokashiki and make it this amazing place to stay in. He is truly passionate and impressively wears many hats throughout the day, and I fully admire his commitment to his dream.
Location:
Literally 2min walk away from the ferry port, so no need for transfers.
3min walk away from the only supermarket on the island.
Multiple transfers are arranged everyday to take you to and from the two main beaches of the island (prefer Tokashiku for a more quiet experience).
Room:
Clean and fully equipped with everything you might need for your stay. It could be tight for 2 people but it is the usual size you'd expect for a Japanese hotel. Traveling alone, I had plenty of room for myself.
Restaurant:
You'll notice that there aren't many places to go to for dinner around the island, but you won't need that. The hotel's restaurant is grand. The menu is varied, the ingredients super fresh and the food is amazing. I honestly wasn't that hungry during my stay but I would always get more food than needed because everything was so delicious! Also, DO get the breakfast option as you won't have many outside of the hotel, and the care that you will be receiving here is unmatched. The Japanese one is exquisite, with a fresh piece of fish every morning, as well as an assortment of local delicacies.
I will 100% be back. After a month of traveling around the country, this was by far my favorite place to be in.

I was there for five days (planned for seven days to include five days of diving), and my stay was cut short by the threat of a typhoon. Tokashiki is quiet - you have to make your own activities, which are water-based. We found a couple of exceptional restaurants and a food truck with great vibes. Lots of friendly locals.

The beach here really is one of the best in Japan, maybe one of the best in the world.
Crabs and coral and beautiful seashells everywhere. It's so natural.
Beautiful white sand and blue sea.
Best of all is under the water. Coral gardens, colorful fish, sea turtles

Tokashiki is the largest of the Kerama Islands.
Tokashiki is the largest of the Kerama Islands. There are some great spots for swimming, snorkeling, and diving from the shore, but a boat trip will be required for some of the other spots, particularly the northern portion of the island. The roads are narrow, but it's worth touring around the island on some of the back roads for the various views and wildlife.

The December water was warm enough to swim without wet suits, It was off season with few guests. They still made great buffet meals, and were very helpful. No nearby restaurants were open. I would go again and stay longer.
