It is actually great to stay in Obertraun as you are away from the crowds. Just a short ferry trip across the water to Hallstatt. Only a few food options but they are good and the staff are friendly where ever you go.

This place is wonderful and Sandra is great host, she helped us with tips and idea for traveling and restaurant in the area, this place is close to Hallstatt but is very quiet without the tourist noise
Recommended Restaurant: Pizzeria Kegelbahn (more than Pizza)
Recommended Bike rental: 311 Seestraße address - you can bike to Hallstatt 30min or take the round tour in the village (very beautiful).
in the Dormio Resort Obertraun reception you can rent Sap or Canoe, but dont rent bike in this place (they ask for 100 Euro deposit for one bike)

This is a peaceful and picturesque village.
This is a peaceful and picturesque village. It's small enough to allow plenty of exploration on foot or a bicycle. Hallstatt is the much more famous neighbouring village but Obertraun has so much charm of its own. You can take a lakeside stroll while admiring the mountain views. Or you can enjoy long walks within the village and appreciate its tranquility and the pretty house and other buildings.
There aren't many restaurants in Obertraun, so plan your meals well.
You can reach Obertraun via train or bus, if you're not driving. My wife and I agree we should come back for a longer stay and when it's sunnier. It's not realistic but it's a nice dream to hold on to.

Great option for access Hallstadt and Dachstein Krippenstein. The mountain views are stunning. The town is very quite and charming. Very few restaurants and only one grocery. The grocery was adequate, but expensive.

Great location in a quiet part of town. Very nice owners. Trouble-free parking and very decent suite equipment.
We didn't miss anything. Shop, restaurant, health center and bike rental are within walking distance.

We had a very nice holidays in Dormio Resort Obertraun. Location is perfect. If you miss some kitchen gadgets you can just ask at the reception and they will provide you for free - e.g. there was no knife and chopping board in our kitchen but they gave us this after we have asked for it. For coffee lovers - if you want to make coffee in your appartment, there is a coffee machine for nespresso capsules, so it is good to bring some with you as there are no capsules provided from the accommodation.
The view is mesmerising. Waking up, and looking into the mountains and lake while in the bed is a wonderful feeling.
We rented a bike from the only bike rental station in Obertraun, and did a bike ride to the Hallstatt. The views along the lake are breathtaking. 1 day rental is upto 8pm.
There’s a nice park next to the hotel, and also a restaurant. It’s a small town though, so we didn’t aim for lot of food varieties.
The apartment was well-maintained and had all the necessary amenities. Our host was helpful. The kitchen was also good. This is a traditional Austrian house. A free parking facility is also available. Obertraun was very peaceful and beautiful too. If you are looking for a place to enjoy the beauty of Austria, this is a good place.
This was a perfect stay for our visit to Hallstatt. It was only a 10 minute drive to Hallstatt & we had a car. Location of this Hotel was gorgeous. Such beautiful scenery. The buffet breakfast was amazing too! Rooms were spacious & the bathroom was huge. Would stay here again.
The location was great! A nice boat ride to Hallstatt to get a cultural experience and close to the Obertraun train station if you are coming from somewhere else.
