When the day trippers are gone, I went to the nearby viewpoints. The next day, I went to 5 fingers to see the sunrise. Breathtaking! I had the place to myself! In here, mother nature is defo mothering!

Check-in and room are in two completely different places, about a 10-minute by walk. The room is a suite with a washroom and bathroom. It is large and very clean. Breakfast is perfect, everything is fresh. Hotel is situated in a silent, peaceful place.

This is a peaceful and picturesque village.
This is a peaceful and picturesque village. It's small enough to allow plenty of exploration on foot or a bicycle. Hallstatt is the much more famous neighbouring village but Obertraun has so much charm of its own. You can take a lakeside stroll while admiring the mountain views. Or you can enjoy long walks within the village and appreciate its tranquility and the pretty house and other buildings.
There aren't many restaurants in Obertraun, so plan your meals well.
You can reach Obertraun via train or bus, if you're not driving. My wife and I agree we should come back for a longer stay and when it's sunnier. It's not realistic but it's a nice dream to hold on to.

Great option for access Hallstadt and Dachstein Krippenstein. The mountain views are stunning. The town is very quite and charming. Very few restaurants and only one grocery. The grocery was adequate, but expensive.

Great location in a quiet part of town. Very nice owners. Trouble-free parking and very decent suite equipment.
We didn't miss anything. Shop, restaurant, health center and bike rental are within walking distance.

We stayed in Obertraun as a base to explore Halstatt but...
We stayed in Obertraun as a base to explore Halstatt but found as our trip got closer that there was a lot more to do in Obertraun and Halstatt than originally thought so our one night stay turned out to not be long enough. If I were booking again I would definitely stay two or three nights so we could explore the salt mines, walks and view points.
Very cozy place to stay, especially if you want to visit Hallstatt and also want to spend some time swimming in the lake and lying at the beach. There is more ways how to reach Hallstatt from Obertarun - either walk, by car, bus or boat. The beach in Obertraun is great, even if you want a little more privacy you can go a little further. This place has amazing owners with great hospitability, very tasty breakfasts and coffee.
Beautiful and calm location, if you're in good condition it's an okay walking distance to Hallstatt. Close to the Obertraun train station. The room was very cute and cosy, very clean and had everything we needed. Special thanks to the employee who was extremely sweet and kind :)
This was a perfect stay for our visit to Hallstatt. It was only a 10 minute drive to Hallstatt & we had a car. Location of this Hotel was gorgeous. Such beautiful scenery. The buffet breakfast was amazing too! Rooms were spacious & the bathroom was huge. Would stay here again.
