We totally enjoyed our time in Bacalar and wished we could...
We totally enjoyed our time in Bacalar and wished we could have stayed longer. But that just means that we will have to come back.
We took a tour around the lagoon with Bacalar Sailing @bacalarsailing and it was great. 4h passed super fast.
The best was waking up every morning and doing a bit of Kayaking and Paddle board on the lagoon!
Also at night the Zocalo is a fun little spot with lots of restaurants around. Plus if you want to purchase souvenirs, prices here are way cheaper then in Mahahual for example. Little bracelets go for 30$ pesos here and in Mahahual they sell them for 100$ pesos for example.

Beautiful lake, warm enough to swim, optional boat trips. The town offered many restaurants, some seafront and some in the town, we had the best meal of our holiday in Mexico in Bacalar. Very relaxing and would recommend it be included if you are exploring that area.

The lagoons were out of this world gorgeous and relaxing. Everyone we interacted with was pleasant, kind and gracious. The restaurant options were remarkable considering the small size of the town. We didn't explore much outside our hotel and Centro Bacalar, however there were many options for great day trips and tours nearby. It was easy to fly into Chetumal and take a taxi to Bacalar.
We ate many times at Xant Ha since we stayed at the Maya Bacalar Hotel, and it was fantastic! El Manati had fantastic food and the art gallery with gift shop was a bonus. La Playita has incredible atmosphere right on the water and the service was excellent. Food here was just OK. We had a great time getting to know the owner at Sweet Child of Wine, and she served us tasty tapas as we sipped local wines. Enjoyed our meal at Nao Sushi, great location on the water.

Great place... starting to be developed and you can imagine once the Mayan Train route is complete, it will be... so go and check it out now!
Oh and Mr. Taco is the best restaurant! delicious, friendly staff, great food and super reasonable... we ate there 2x/day!

It is a beautiful lake located close to Chetumal.
It is a beautiful lake located close to Chetumal. The tour on the lake takes you to the different cenotes, with time to swing in those colorful waters, it is really beautiful.
We found a nice restaurant called Waah, the food was delicious, all dishes are prepared from scratch. Excellent.
The city is small and peaceful. There is a fort San Felipe to visit.

everything!!!!! I’ve travel for more than 30 countries and been to Mexico now for the fourth time. Bacalar, and more specifically Habitas Bacalar, is for sure one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to.
The room is with the lagoon view was truly magical.
Everything is set up with such good taste, from the decoration to the live music there was there one day after dinner.
The staff was so attentive and friendly. Good job!

Very well located hotel. Only 5-10 min walk to the center and just in front of the lagoon. Easy to park the car in front. The staff is very nice and their recommendations for activities in Bacalar are good as well. They sell some beers and cans in the hotel that you can enjoy from the rooftop with the view on the lagoon.
Beautiful rooms, stunning location, you could stay here a long time relaxing. The staff are all lovely and the food is incredible - we ate at the hotel so much, some of the best food we had in Mexico! try the local dishes!
