Beautiful, from the moment we entered the reception, we were greeted by very friendly staff and a beer.
The room with the pool on the roof was worth the splurge! You have an entire rooftop, with mini fridge, bathroom and of course pool with a view to yourself!
The room itself was spotlessly clean, with a well appointed kitchenette. The bathroom was huge and the shower was hot with great water pressure (hard to find in Bacalar).
The lagoon is an easy walk across the street and the dock was a perfect spot to hang out all day.
If you’re tired and don’t want to hunt down food, there is a decent restaurant on site.
We will stay here again when we return.

We totally enjoyed our time in Bacalar and wished we could have stayed longer. But that just means that we will have to come back.
We took a tour around the lagoon with Bacalar Sailing @bacalarsailing and it was great. 4h passed super fast.
The best was waking up every morning and doing a bit of Kayaking and Paddle board on the lagoon!
Also at night the Zocalo is a fun little spot with lots of restaurants around. Plus if you want to purchase souvenirs, prices here are way cheaper then in Mahahual for example. Little bracelets go for 30$ pesos here and in Mahahual they sell them for 100$ pesos for example.
Really enjoyed the vibe!

Beautiful lake, warm enough to swim, optional boat trips.
Beautiful lake, warm enough to swim, optional boat trips. The town offered many restaurants, some seafront and some in the town, we had the best meal of our holiday in Mexico in Bacalar. Very relaxing and would recommend it be included if you are exploring that area.

The lagoons were out of this world gorgeous and relaxing.
The lagoons were out of this world gorgeous and relaxing. Everyone we interacted with was pleasant, kind and gracious. The restaurant options were remarkable considering the small size of the town. We didn't explore much outside our hotel and Centro Bacalar, however there were many options for great day trips and tours nearby. It was easy to fly into Chetumal and take a taxi to Bacalar.
We ate many times at Xant Ha since we stayed at the Maya Bacalar Hotel, and it was fantastic! El Manati had fantastic food and the art gallery with gift shop was a bonus. La Playita has incredible atmosphere right on the water and the service was excellent. Food here was just OK. We had a great time getting to know the owner at Sweet Child of Wine, and she served us tasty tapas as we sipped local wines. Enjoyed our meal at Nao Sushi, great location on the water.

The most amazing little boutique hotel. Jose Luis (owner) is the most accommodating host and such a kind and generous person.
The breakfast was the best we had in Mexico, and the staff gave us the best recommendations for tours and dinners, and were extremely accommodating for all our needs.
Can't recommend high enough! 💖
From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed. The atmosphere was relaxed yet well-organized, creating the perfect balance for a getaway. The breakfast was a highlight of our stay, and the rooftop space provided a lovely spot to unwind. Overall, I highly recommend Hotel Aires to anyone traveling to Bacalar
I was planning to propose to my partner, I spoke with the hotel representative on the phone before my stay and he helped me plan everything from the beginning to the proposal.
Amazing people, professional and respectful staff and an amazing place, unequivocally the best stay we had in Mexico
We really enjoyed our stay with Makaaba a LOT! The hotel is really well throught out designed, with a lot of spots to relax, the staff was super friendly and the breakfast was amazing. It has been the best hotel during our stay in Mexico!
