Yuda Onsen, Yamaguchi
Set in Yamaguchi, Matsudaya Hotel offers accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking, as well as access to a hot spring bath. This 4-star ryokan offers a lift and luggage storage space. The ryokan features family rooms. Having booked over hundreds of hotels, it was my first time to fill reservation form incorrectly (4 people family but didn't notice it was a 2 people order). Even so, the staff kindly informed me the order was wrong and gently asked me for extra people's futon charge without displeasure. They even provided rice and furikake for the kids for free in breakfast the next morning. I felt so touched in Matsudaya hotel.

The property itself is old and in need of repair or rebuilding. The futons are small and thin, and the pillows are inadequate. However, the staff are very pleasant and helpful. Also, the evening dance, magic and comedy show performed by three octogenarian ladies and the younger staff is extremely entertaining. The hot spring is nice too.
The hotel is very new You can choose to use the public Onsen or the shower in room Close to the convenience store and restaurant in a quiet neighbourhood Stuff are very friendly
Parking in front of the hotel. Clean and comfortable room. Good hot spring bath on level 1. And good breakfast. I wish I have booked more than a night.
Very traditional ryokan in beautiful gardens, with half board Kaiseki dinner 😋
Very beautiful ryokan with wonderful onsen
Enjoyed the onsen next door. Did not have the breakfast. Rooms are a bit small but for one night, it was fine. Very nice staff. Stored our luggage for the day while we went touring.
The hotel is very good located. The bus to the Akiyoshido Cave stops in front of the hotel room! There are 3x foot Onsen by 10 min walk distance max. Tons of food choices and one-day trip options. The rooms have the usual Japanese hotel sizes, the breakfast costs 900¥ but we didn’t like it so much (you get what you pay for), so we went outside for breakfast most days. This is a very convenient stay if you want to discover the nature wonders of the Yamaguchi region!!!
Welp, it had a good view in the room we stayed. A tiny bathroom. Apparently they had some onsen underneath at the basement, but never had the time to visit it. All the personnel was Japanese.
We loved the comfortable futon style beds, the friendly staff and the private onsen you could hire, one for a single person and one for a couple.
