Hotel Daimatsuso, hotel in Sendai

The hotel was quite nice, little bit old fashioned, but clean. The room was large enough, in traditional Japanese style (tatami). The spa ("onsen") was really good, we enjoy it very much!

Akiu Fuga, hotel in Sendai

Set in Sendai, within 17 km of Sendai City Community Support Center and 38 km of Shiogama Shrine, Akiu Fuga offers accommodation with a bar as well as free private parking for guests who drive.

This is the perfect onsen town to be in if you are near Sendai. We had a great stay in the Japanese western room with a private bath. It was amazing! We had a great view of the river and the bath was so relaxing. I love that we had the choice of sleeping on a western bed or laying out the Japanese mattress. We had the full board option which inlcudes dinner and breakfast. Both meals were scrumptious. They had a set menu and explained each course (they even tried to explain it in their best English). We so highly appreciated their efforts. There is a bar with a free welcome drink, and some very unique drinks to try. Highly recommend this place if you want to experience the traditional onsen with more privacy. Also this little onsen town is the cutest! They have a short trail along the streams which is very accessible and more of a leisurely walk. There are some cute cafes in the neighborhood. Definitely recommend checking this area out. If you are here in Spring there are some beautiful cherry blossom spots. Another pro is that there is an express bus near Sendai station to this area. It's about a 40 minute ride.

Hotel Ubudo, hotel in Sendai

Boasting a garden and a shared lounge, Hotel Ubudo is located in Matsushima and is 900 metres from Entsuin Temple.

A location at the sea with beautiful view. The hospitality is great, staff very friendly. A nice feature is that you get to choose your own yukata. One person in particular, had lived 16 years in Spain, helped is with his English skills and gave us great service. The room was pleasant, the futons comfortable. We had a private bath on the inner waranda. Dinner was exceptional, a real wow factor. Same for breakfast, amazing.

The entrance to the metro & underground food, restaurant & shopping area is across the street, so very convenient. The spa hot spring 'onsen' bath (Not included in room price) has also a steamroom: it looks modern, well maintained and although not that large, it is very nice.

The onsen on the roof was fantastic, a very different way to wash oneself compared to other countries. The view from the 13th floor was phenomenal and the tatami mats around the place were really nice to walk on

I was looking for an accommodation to visit old friends living in Sendai. The ryokan's location was exceptionally convenient, the breakfast was absolutely delicious, and the ryokan itself is really cute. We loved that we were able to book the onsen for private use at a set time, that allowed my husband and I to use it together (please be aware that as a consequence, onsens may not be available due to private reservations, better check during check-in!) We will absolutely try to stay there next time we go to Sendai.

The hotel was really great for the price. Everything is traditional Japanese; tatami everywhere and you take your shoes off right at the entrance rather than walking to your room with them. Onsen is not tattoo-friendly so I did not use, but I went to Yamagata one day to use the hot spring there instead. Breakfast was terrific, with many small plates to try lots of the food of Sendai. The staff was extremely helpful, and gave me suggestions for where to eat harakomeshi.

Breakfast is amazing and exceeded expectations. Staff is helpful. Rooms are small but beds are cosy. The hotel has an onsen, though it is slightly colder and more chlorinated than its Ryokan counterparts.
