Monzen Okagero, hotel in Ikoma

Featuring 3-star accommodation, Monzen Okagero is set in Ikoma, 9 km from Iwafune Shrine and 10 km from Nozaki Kannon Shrine.

The location is majestic! You get to travel there by the cute Ikoma cable train shaped as a neko 🐱. The window view is down the mountain on Ikoma and even further away Osaka (I guess it was Osaka, anyways, night city lights spreading down below is a view to remember). And the town itself is worth planning your time so you can wander about, hike, and visit the local treasure, Hozanji temple. Just keep in mind places like shops and cafés seem to close up early and open late here😉 The room is spacios. The traditional japanese vibe is ✨️✨️✨️💯 The futon bed was very comfortable 😌 😴 The place is clean and well kept. I would say 9/10 for cleanliness. It could be cleaner, but it was very clean and pleasant to stay. One of the cleanest hotels I've stayed in. The staff is friendly and helpful, I was even helped with the huge suitcase down the stairs 🥹 There's a hair dryer and amenities like shampoo, hair conditioner, body wash, a comb, mini toothpaste, and a toothbrush. In the room, there's a kettle, a tea set, and a tea bag, so I could enjoy a cup of green tea in the traditional japanese room overlooking the beautiful view *-------* I've fallen so in love with this ryokan and the town that I'm definitely coming here again on my next trip to Japan ♡

We were pleasantly surprised by the meals provided at the Ryokan. Meals were beautifully prepared. We didn't get to experience the bath but we hope to next time. Very clean, comfortable, and accommodating. The staff were all so kind.

Amazing Japanese food, impeccable service (attentive yet non intrusive) , quiet location lovely peaceful views. The temple, turn right outside the door and walk for 10 mins was incredible, virtually no one there and more impressive than the tourist traps in Kyoto (fushimi inari) amazing mountain view. The location is amazing. 10 minute taxi from Oji station. Can't recommend highly enough. The onsen was lovely.
