I liked that it was isolated from busy city Tokyo and that it was super close to nature and the mountain. The hospitality of the host was unmatched, the food dishes were delicious and hearty. I saw a tanuki the first day of the trip. It was an amazing day even when it’s rainy, because you can stay inside and relax.

Beautiful rooms that replicate old-style Japanese houses. Breakfast matches the theme with great variety. Hosts were very nice, accommodating, and understanding of the language barrier.

The staff was so accommodating and very nice. They were a highlight for us. Our room was big and felt like a retreat in the middle of our travels. The baths were very nice and clean. We had a great time.
Experience culture authentically with a stay at these traditional Japanese-style accommodations. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath, plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
The entire experience was wonderful. I enjoyed everything.
The room are spacious and traditional. The views are absolutely breathtaking. Peaceful and so lovely listening to the birds chirp.
The bath/onsen is nice. Dinner and breakfast was really good. The owners were warm and welcoming.
I have nothing but positive things to say about my stay at Shukubo Komadori-Sanso. A lovely, traditional Japanese ryokan experience with fantastic hospitality, incredible food (be sure to order the dinner while you're there!) and a super helpful and friendly owner :)
as always, it was a great stay. everyone is very kind, meals are really delicious and it is a very comfortable japanese inn all seasons 🥰 looking forward to go back
We've stayed at this ryokan multiple times and every time is wonderful. The staff is lovely, and the rooms are exactly what I want from a traditional Japanese inn. The location is beautiful and the meals are delicious and worth every penny. The private tub feels so amazing after a full day of pretty strenuous hiking.
I had a truly amazing experience staying here. The location is exceptionally beautiful and quiet, right in the mountains - a perfect setting to unwind. Staff are very accommodating and friendly. I had dinner and breakfast, which was truly exceptional. The bedroom and bed was very comfortable with an amazing view over the mountains. I also tried the onsen (first time ever) and fully enjoyed the experience. There are many walks and hikes, and I wish I had stayed for a few more days. I highly recommend staying here!
Everyone was very welcoming. The food was amazing - definitely opt for dinner here. The bath was so big we didn't feel the need to visit the onsen. Location is excellent to get to the hiking trails and the shrine - hike to the top of Mt Odake if you want a great view of Mt Fuji.
Such a beautiful building in a serene and peaceful place. Amazing views from our room and cozy comfortable futons. The bath was perfect after a long hike. Akemi was an amazing host. Dinner and breakfast were wonderful.
Location was right next to the river. Very peaceful and perfect for some birdwatching. There was a mini fridge, kettle & microwave oven for us to use. There was a small bathtub to soak our aching muscles after a long hike (set it to at least 55°C and press “auto”. Bring your own bath salts). We stayed in a traditional Japanese room so we had to make up our own futon for sleep, but that wasn’t an issue. Pyjamas aren’t provided and you need to rent the large bath towels (but pretty cheap, just 100yen).
I loved everything!
The place - Mt Mitake- ists just gorgeous. It's less of a tourist area, so it was not crowded at all. The Ryokan itself was an authentic Japanese style hotel. It was a great experience staying there. The food was very delicious and plenty. The owner and stuff were amazing-- from beginning till the end. The area is great for hiking, of course. I loved my stay there most out of all my accommodations on my recent trip.
I had the most lovely time at this Ryokan. The owners were lovely. The dinner and breakfast were generous and delicious, and the view from the onsen was great.
