We love the room and the garden with onsen very much. There is a special thing we notice during our stay - it is so elegant to have toilot paper with beautiful lace patterns in the room. I can see that the staffs prepared the stay with care.

Hoshi Meguri, hotel in Minamiizu

Situated in Shimoda, 40 km from Koibito Misaki Cape and 43 km from Shuzen-ji Temple, Hoshi Meguri offers a terrace and air conditioning.

We loved everything about Hoshi Meguri. The hospitality, service and guest engagement were outstanding and the facilities were excellent. We had dinner & breakfast and they were both truly awesome. The half board package is most definitely worth the money. Lovely family run inn. We would love to return one day.

横川温泉湯殿ととのゆ, hotel in Minamiizu

33 km from Koibito Misaki Cape in Shimoda, 横川温泉湯殿ととのゆ provides accommodation with access to a hot spring bath, hot tub and open-air bath.

Beautiful, new build residence. Very low fuss and with stripped back breakfast. But we had complete privacy and a very tranquil setting and enough creature comforts to enjoy a film in the evening. Only a short drive from three towns and the seven waterfalls as well. The bath room/private onsen is wonderful.

Isoaruki no Yuyado Ushiogumo -6 years or older-, hotel in Minamiizu

Isoaruki no Yuyado Ushiogumo -6 years or older- features sea views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Kawazu, 37 km from Shuzen-ji Temple.

Our favourite of the four ryokan we had the pleasure of experiencing in Ryokan. What tipped it was the incredible staff, who went to every effort to make us feel welcome throughout, and managed to walk a perfect line between friendly and professional. We were particularly grateful to the one lady who took charge of both our meals directly; this personal touch - making sure you have the same point of contact throughout your stay - seems to be a feature of Ushiogumo, and was very much appreciated. The room and rotenburo overlooking the beach is beautiful, with ample amenities including a charming coffee stand in the adjoining powder room. Dinner was also excellent, with each course prepared and brought to us individually in our private dining area, as well as a sake tasting set that I thought was extremely generous in its proportions. In fact, I think maybe the most skillful aspect of the whole arrangement is that Ushiogumo does well to screen guests from one another, so that you have the impression that the whole ryokan is put on entirely for your benefit.

Pros: Inhouse onsen was the highlight during our stay. Unit is next to the river and so calming. I could have hot ramen outside of the house during the night. Owner was a couple, and they were so welcoming. Initially there was no instruction in collecting the key. Luckily the door was not locked and the owner just stay next door.

The host was very nice and helpful. He gaves us a lot of recommandations, even making a custom map with points of interest for us. The apartment was amazing. Very clean, and huge. There was all the stuff needed, even to cook. There was a lot of spare futons, even if he knew we were only 3, which is nice. The price value was amazing considering it was not this expansive as 3, so as more it's an extremly good value. If I could I would have stayed remote working!

It's a very pretty Guesthouse and the owner is very friendly.. We also had a delicious breakfast, good proper bread from a local bakery and locally sourced jams. Room is large enough with futon bedding.

Beautiful, spacious, well furnished and equipped house amid treetops with lovely decks, one with picnic tables, view of ocean, sound of waves from beach nearby. Host-recommended nearby onsen was excellent.
