We had a wonderful welcome from all the staff which helped us relax a lot after traveling in the rain all day. The room and food were amazing! We loved the view from our room and also the view in the onsen. I'd love to stay here again!

I am going to explain this accomodation to all WESTERN TOURISTS:
So we decided to book this hotel because it was on the way to Koya san and next to a railway Station. But the hotel was 400 metres a bit on the hill (just to know if you have big or much luggage). The hotel is the biggest building in this little mountain village and there's not much around accept jungle like forest. So when we arrived in the evening there was no place to eat nearby accept 1km over the hill was one restaurant open. We couldn't somehow eat at the hotel, even if we would have paid for it. That was strange.
To the hotel itself:
It has 5 floors with different room options. We stayed at the economy room which is Japanese style which means you have those futons, small table and "chairs" and at night you have to put a mattress on the floor by yourself for sleeping. That was a nice experience. You have an extra toilet and a baisin, a fridge, a rice cooker in the front room and that's basically it. The discription says "shared bathroom" but this is the onsen on the 1st floor. So you go with your yukata (bath robe) downstairs where you find onsen for men, women and a family option you can pay for additonally if you wanna.have some privacy or want to experience the onsen with your partner. We tried both and we really liked it. It's a great experience in Japan.
KAMENOI HOTEL Tondabayashi offers a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 7.5 km of Subaru Hall and 13 km of Sakai Municipal Mihara Culture Hall.

Beautiful view of the mountains and the city. Very close to Osaka and so easy to get to. Rooms were large and clean.
Staff were very kind and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic.

Spacious, beautifully maintained temple and gardens in a tranquil setting.
Staff were helpful despite many of them not speaking English.
Note that in order to protect the wood floors, wheeled luggage cannot be rolled inside the temple. There is no elevator in this temple, and some of the staircases are a little bit steep, which could be a problem for some.
My room was clean, spacious, and there was free WiFi.
Walls are made of paper so they are thin. This is part of the authentic experience, but you could hear people moving, talking and snoring. For the most part, though, guests staying in the rooms near me were quiet and respectful of others.
There was no lock for my room, so valuables had to be secured in the in-room safe.
Some common areas of the temple were cold, but the room had its own heating and cooling so I was able to keep it at a comfortable temperature.
There are shared bathroom facilities (sinks and lavatory). The gender-separated communal bath is available with limited hours from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, so as a result it can get crowded.
Featuring free WiFi and a hot spring bath, Okumizuma Onsen offers accommodation in Kaizuka, 37 km from Osaka. Free private parking is available on site. Rooms are fitted with a flat-screen TV.

The most luxurious and comfortable stay we had in all of Japan, and without a doubt the most service-minded staff we have ever met in the whole world! They were available anytime to improve our experience in any way they could. The food was Michelin-star worthy and the menu changed every night with inspiring dishes throughout.
Experience culture authentically with a stay at this traditional Japanese-style accommodation. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
Super welcome from the staff, including a detailed introduction to the ryokan and how to conduct yourself (delivered in a professional and welcoming manner).
Amazing ryokan and relaxing onsen. Highly recommend.
Serene surroundings of the beautiful garden and pond. Truly idyllic.
Thoughtfully tailored vegan kaiseki for my partner. Taste didn’t 100% hit the mark (see below sole negative comment), but we couldn’t fault the effort that had gone into the meal.
Great breakfast. Unique experience (breakfast in a yukata).
11 course menu (Kaiseki) was outstanding, just like the rest of the meals. Everybody was very friendly and accommodating. Received personal advice on what to see in the area. Very quiet, despite train station in close proximity. Hot spring (onsen) can be used almost all day and night. Beautiful traditional Japanese rooms. Would love to stay again.
The futons were SUPER comfortable
The course meal was a great experience
I enjoyed relaxing in the onsen
It was very nice being in a more secluded area away from the city for one night
I really enjoyed the teishoku breakfast
Our stay at Nanten-En was one of our highlights on our trip to Japan. The Ryokan is beautiful, within 2 minutes to the trainstation and a lot of nature around it. The staff was always nice and helpful. The dinner was just amazing and the Onsen beautiful as well. Thank you so much, for making our stay so special for us!
Although not far from Osaka and easy to reach by train, this is a quiet place in midst of forests and mountains. We went there for one night with dinner and breakfast, and especially the dinner served in our tatami room was a great experience. The onsen was not crowded and pleasant, yet maybe the most spectacular one.
Our night at Nanten-En was a truly unique experience and a highlight of our visit to Japan. I loved that the hotel had such a historic background, beautiful location (easily accessed), staff were all so accommodating, interesting and gracious. The room was beautiful with tatami mats and a seating are overlooking an aesthetic and private garden. The dinner was unforgettable and tasty, served in our room by attentive staff breakfast the next day was also very delicious. We also enjoyed the onsen. Altogether highly recommended!
the peacefulness of the location. super easy to get to from the train. the full cultural experience and the staff were the most attentive people I’ve ever come across! the best “first timers” bathhouse experience and instructions on how to use a Yukata. lots of staff spoke great English and were very helpful! the Futon was more comfortable than I thought!
