The location was superb- in a tranquil setting, surrounded by mountains. We loved everything about the property. The staff were attentive, clearly proud of the work they do and were really helpful and friendly. The food, as everyone mentioned, was certainly the highlight. We used the private Onsen every day because we enjoyed it that much! The Suite was cosy, with all the necessary amenities and more, and the view from our terrace was great.
All in all, the 4D3N stay at this gorgeous property was memorable and we cannot thank the staff enough- and especially the chef- for making our stay such a wonderful one.
Located in the sacred Mount Koya area, 高野山 宿坊 桜池院 -Koyasan Shukubo Yochiin- is a historic temple and an accommodation for visitors.

Our stay at Yochi-in was excellent in every way. The monks were welcoming, the food was exceptional, and the room was warm and comfortable. We would highly recommend!

A really great place to stay, the food and the place was amazing. One night was too short. We should have stayed another day and walking or hiking in the surroundings.

We arrived late in the evening and were unable to enjoy the surroundings of Okumizuma Onsen. Still, we were able to notice that Okumizuma Onsen is a very beautiful, high-quality ryokan-onsen type inn. Okumizuma Onsen is located right in nature in the middle of the hills. The very spacious common lounge with two massage chairs and drinks dispensers overlooks the well-kept and beautiful garden. Okumizuma Onsen has double indoor and outdoor (covered) onsens: don't miss this last !
Room is spacious, clean and comfortable, and the staff is just lovely.
As Okumizuma Onsen is located in a fairly remote location, it is not easy to find a restaurant nearby especially at night time: don't hesitate to book meals at Okumizuma Onsen, especially the traditional kaiseki type dinner which is worth trying.
Our regret: too short 1-night stay !
At Fudoguchikan, guests can bathe in the open air, in a public hot-spring bath that boasts mountain and river views. Tranquil Japanese-style rooms offer river views, some from a private open-air bath....

The atmosphere (next to a river in the mountains) is fantastic. We stayed in a room with a private outdoor bath that overlooks the river in absolute privacy. The onsen water quality is very good. The room was large (16 tatami) and the futons very comfortable. The area is very quiet - only the whisper of the aircon and the pump of the outdoor bath could be heard at night. Women get to pick yukatas upon check-in to suit their style and size. We paid for half-board, which included a very sumptuous kaiseki meal in a private tatami room. The food was absolutely exceptional, and included drinks such as high-end sake. Breakfast -- traditional Japanese -- was also very delicious. The hotel provided a shuttle service from and to Hineno station, making the travel experience very easy.

It was an amazing experience. Everything, from the meditation to the dinner, to the morning prayer and the breakfast. My room was so pretty and the temple itself is so big and beautiful. The staff and the monks are super nice too. It was the perfect position for me too since it is close to the Fudozaka Trail. Recommended.
Experience culture authentically with a stay at this traditional Japanese-style accommodation. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
