From getting picked up at Shuzenji station until the ride back, everything was taken care of for us, and we felt like we were pampered throughout the stay. We had an early dinner, choosing the 5:30 service, which meant we could later enjoy the private onsen by moonlight. The other onsen baths are worth a visit, the cave bath was especially beautiful in the morning, with the sun rays piercing through the steam.
Wearing the yukata felt really nice, and the sleeve pockets are so practical! Dinner and breakfast were delicious, especially the choice of sake and the rice dishes.
We were very pleased by the choice of complimentary treats and drinks in the lounge, and also in the room fridge — soft drinks and mineral water only, but all very nice after a warm onsen bath!
Designed by Shinji Kagawa, the stylish AKARI et KAORI formerly Taizanso is a 10-minute drive from Shuzenji Train Station.

Beautiful room with private onsen bath. The evening meal and breakfast were both beautiful and incredible. They catered perfectly for our various dietary requirements. The women's communal onsen was so lovely and beautifully designed. The staff were exceptional in every respect.

Everything. Our room had just spectacular view on the maples, large balcony, private onsen in the room with the same view. It’s just amazing. Room is fully equipped with the traditional tea set, several towels for onsen, traditional socks, complimentary mochi, traditional Japanese clothes. Everything to feel you the part of the culture. Dinner is invaluable part of our stay. We tried plenty of dishes, our host told us everything about the ingredients and how to eat it properly. The environment, the village where the hotel is located is also very cosy, we walked through the bamboo street, outside the hotel we saw a beautiful Japanese garden. I truly recommend that hotel, it costs every dollar. Just sad that we were there just for one night. Thank you!

We have gotten a private onsen in room, and it was an amazing experience! I love how the hotel is situated deep in the forests—the place is peaceful with a view of mount fuji from the room. The room is huge and beautifully furnished with a small tatami room and balcony overlooking the mountains. The haoris and yukatas provided are comfortable along with all the hotel ammenities. There is regular free shuttle to the station, which is very helpful.
Beautiful house in rural location. A large traditional breakfast with many dishes. Very kind and friendly host. Small but clean and attractive onsen. Perfect.
This histel thought about everything, there is a free onsen, rooftop, comfortable beds (kind od futons), a lot of recommendations available and super friendly staff. You can also wahs your clothes for free!
One of the highlights of our accommodation was the private hot spring. The rooms adorned with tatami mats were exceptionally beautiful. The entire house was so beautiful and we thorough enjoyed every moment of our stay.
Thank you so much!
This is an authentic Ryokan and Onsen. The staff are exceptionally helpful and traditional in every way. The food is phenomenal (incl. Japanese style breakfast).
This was a beautiful and relaxing retreat.
The hotel staff was super nice and helpful. One of my friends forgot his ear-pods in the room and we had left Izu. The hotel staff quickly helped to send the ear-pods to our new hotel. Good view at the mountain and the stream from the room window. 4 private onsens for reservation and 1 public one. The futons are comfortable for sleep. The traditional Yukata was offered during the stay.
A wonderful stay with comfortable futon beds, private balconies overlooking the peaceful river, and a beautifully designed ryokan with modern Japanese interiors. The two onsen baths onsite are a great way to relax after a long day, and be sure to try the delicious home-cooked Japanese breakfast offered by the kind hostess! Could not recommend this stay more highly!
-location is right in the centre of the town.
-reasonably comfortable bedding and facilities
- has a onsen/hot spring
- historical and traditional styled rooms
-relatively cheap
- map of all the food places given upon arrival as the place is not equipped to serve food. Had closing time and cuisine.
- Yukata and bath towel provided.
- heating was adequate and I was not cold at all during the night
Loved the super large family room. Lovely tatami rooms with futons. Indeed a bit old furniture, but still very nice and spacious.
Very nice onsen.
With the kids we also had fun playing badminton, ping-pong and basketball. All free of charge.
Very nice experience for all at a very reasonable price.
