The hotel was quite nice, little bit old fashioned, but clean. The room was large enough, in traditional Japanese style (tatami).
The spa ("onsen") was really good, we enjoy it very much!

A location at the sea with beautiful view. The hospitality is great, staff very friendly. A nice feature is that you get to choose your own yukata. One person in particular, had lived 16 years in Spain, helped is with his English skills and gave us great service. The room was pleasant, the futons comfortable. We had a private bath on the inner waranda. Dinner was exceptional, a real wow factor. Same for breakfast, amazing.
Offering Japanese-style rooms, Shintomi-tei offers public indoor/outdoor public baths and relaxing massages. Free Wi-Fi is available at the lobby area and free parking is on-site.

Old stylish hotel, Japanese style with onsen and nice bay view.
Experience culture authentically with a stay at this traditional Japanese-style accommodation. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
The hotel was fairly close to the station. We had to walk for only 5 minutes from the nearest bus stop. My room was spacious even though it had a single mattress on tatami floor. The facility had 24x7 hot water and the air conditioning kept me warm throughout my stay. The proprietors were super kind to drop us at the train station on a rainy day. Also, she dropped us at the ferry to Tashirojima island because we would’ve missed it if we had taken the bus!
This local ryokan has real character, decorated from walls to ceiling with colourful posters and various toys of Japan, from classic to manga. The manager couple are just as nice. She had written out a welcome with basic information in Spanish for me, as my reservation shows it as country of origin.
The room is comfortable, complete with towel and pyjamas, plus a water kettle and cup with teabags. If you're on foot, it's 27 min to Ishinomaki station and 18 min to Haneda station- the latter gets you the Matsushima-Kaigan.
