This was an actual 10/10 stay. The hotspring baths are amazing, the rooms are beautiful, the staff goes above and beyond and the food is quite the experience.
If you come here i would also recommend checking out the bar. The bartender is very nice and made us some amazing cocktails. I can recommend his "rose petal mojito".

Both the Japanese dinner and breakfast were fantastic! Thank you for preparing the cake and celebrating my husband’s birthday with a lovely birthday song. It was a wonderful touch!

The hotel is a unique place, Japanese style. We ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel two times each and thought the food was amazing and a great value. Mao, the owner/manager was very helpful, friendly and informative about Hita.

Set along the river, it can be a stunning sight during the golden hours right before sunset and after sunrise. A peaceful, scenic river path walk or bicycle route. You can even climb up to a forested shrine along the river path. The roof top onsen unfortunately doesn't look the photos because there are privacy screens on the womens side that block the view and the inside onsen windows are fogged up, also blocking the view. Meals were plentiful, we couldn't finish the generous sets. Reception staff were not welcoming, which is unusual as all our other stays in Japan the staff cheerfully greet you as soon as you walk in the door or step off an elevator. Very nice yukata and over jackets provided.

The meals were delicious with portions larger than I was expecting, even for my child. The building and rooms looked renovated and were clean. The staff were very friendly and kind to our family, especially my one-year-old. I would like to stay here again sometime.

Experience culture authentically with a stay at these traditional Japanese-style accommodations. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath, plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
Location was perfect for us. Next to the railway station, across from the bus station and between the two main areas of the town. The staff were so helpful, friendly and patient with our lack of Japanese. Great onsen and laundry facilities. Wonderful restaurant. We loved our Japanese breakfasts but they had other choices. The rooms had everything we needed. Lovely opening the curtains in the morning to look over the town and up to the mountains.
The receptionist was so prepared to handle english speaking guests with her translation app on her tablet. She even walked us all the way to the lift. Room was very spacious with a small platform for a traditional Japanese table n seats. Onsen was great. Breakfast was superb.
Very convenient location for bus and train and easy to drive with adequate parking. Small but tasteful onsen which we really appreciated after long day of travelling. The room is as advertised, compact but adequate for a night. Perhaps if you had large luggage you may disagree but with 2 carry-ons and 2 back packs my daughter and I were fine together in the room.
Good onsen hotel. Rooms are nice and comfortable. Public onsen is big and has indoor and outdoor.
Breakfast is amazing! You can experience many Japanese menu and they are all delicious.
They gave us 2 bottles of tea (per 1 person) as a souvenir!
- The room was huge. All inclusive. My room had the bathtub. River view was also nice.
- The breakfast and dinner were delicious. We can see that they made a lot of effort in detail.
- The hotel offers 6 onsen baths (4 inside the hotel; 2 outside which you need to walk down the stairs).
- Staff were super friendly.
The staff were very polite.
The indoor onsen was good with an adjoining outdoor pool. The forest bath was about 8 minutes walk down steps, a good experience.
Thank you for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
A dreamlike ryokan nestled in the middle of a small gorge surrounded by lots of forest.
The onsen were a dream with a direct view of the river and forest.
The varied and diverse food in the evening and morning was fantastic.
The staff were very helpful and could fulfil our every wish.
The pick-up service from the train station was also great.
We can only warmly recommend the Ryokan to anyone who wants to forget everyday life.
This is exactly the right place.
Beautiful river views, room was not a traditional Japanese one but still got lovely tatami and shoji screens. Loved the onsen upstairs..the free bike rental, the lovely staff..only stayed one night, wish it had been longer.
