Wonderful place with an excellent outdoor onsen facing a river and the forest. Real Japanese atmosphere

Experience culture authentically with a stay at these traditional Japanese-style accommodations. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath, plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
Very easy to find, they even hung a plate with my name on the door. I could basically use the entire second floor. The owner took me by car to a dinner place, the hot springs and to the train station. Very kind! Breakfast was very generous as well.
-The Inn is within walking distance from Hiraizumi Station.
-The room in spacious, well appointed, and immaculately clean. The view from my 2F room is refreshingly expansive.
-The manager was cordial and willing to communicate with non-Japanese travellors.
-Overall with limited accommodation options in Hiraizumi, Iris Yu represents great value as long as you don't expect the luxury ryokan experience.
The amenities are great, the staff friendly, polite, and extremely accommodating. The food is outstanding - generous portions, extraordinary variety and really fresh as a lot of it is grown in the hotel garden. The location is a little out of Hiraizumi but it doesn’t matter - there’s a shuttle, and the location is serene and beautiful. Also the onsen is amazing!
Very kind host, the room&bed is wonderful and comfortable~breakfast is made by Mrs.Suzuki, which is very Japanese style and delicious!
Next time we go here,we will choose the same minpake!
Recommend everyone come here before 8:00pm,Mr,Suzuki will drive you to hot spring Sento(9:00pm closed).
Staying here in Hiraizumi was one of the greatest highlights of our trip. They kindly opened their home to us and took such good care of us during our short stay. The accomedation should be priced much higher, but the feeling I had was that this couple wanted to help as many people experience true Japanese culture, without price being a constraint. Their home was beautiful, the futons were comfortable (even though usually we struggle with them), we had the most delicious breakfast and had the best recommendations for sightseeing.
Lovely renovated ryokan right in the middle of Hiraizumi. A few minutes walk from the station also connects you to Ichinoseki, and other cities along the line.
Japanese room was clean and well decorated with traditional pieces, ryokan offers communal (not-mixed) hot baths, cheap laundry machines, and a number of snacks etc at reception.
Traditional room very comfortble and a Rich breakfast is served.
Renewed common area such as toilets are very nice.
Onsen is public but basically just one erson can enter ..making it private.
Everything. The host was very friendly and warm welcome. Large room, classic japanese, and comfortable beds (Tatami plus futon, what more do you need?). Close to sightseeing spots. Excellent chef, breakfast was majestic. I wish could have stayed longer. Feel like family, suitable for those who miss their hometown lol
Traditional style accommodation, gives you the chance to sleep in a futon on the tatami, wear a yukata, and utilise shared bathroom facility, or sento. It is worth the experience 😊 it's reasonably close to Hiraizumi station (about 10 minutes walk) and the host very kindly tried to accomodate for my vegan requirements for breakfast. Bathroom and toilets were clean.
