Staying at The Rua Room in Umarato Villa was an experience straight out of a dream. The moment I stepped onto the balcony, I was greeted by a breathtaking ocean view that stretched as far as the eye could see. The sound of waves crashing against the shore created the perfect soundtrack to accompany the stunning vista. But the real gem of this room was the outdoor bathtub nestled amidst the natural beauty of the surroundings. Immersing myself in warm water while surrounded by lush greenery and the soothing sounds of nature was an experience like no other. It was a moment of pure serenity and relaxation, allowing me to unwind and truly connect with the environment. The attention to detail in The Rua Room was impeccable, from the luxurious furnishings to the thoughtful amenities provided. Every aspect of my stay was carefully curated to ensure maximum comfort and enjoyment.

But this has it all; green island, authentic, luxury, great food with even guest chefs, great accommodation with the best view, and super friendly staff! It was an absolutely delightful stay. Our room was wonderful. It was spotless and decorated beautifully. We had a large private living area and an elegant outdoor shower in an enclosed courtyard. We spent our days touring the eastern part of Sumba and walking and shell collecting on the endless beach which backs up to the Kandora. We swam daily in the Savu Sea and the beautiful Kandora pool. Our meals, especially breakfast, were delicious. The staff at Kandora are incredible. Iwon manages the hotel and saw to our every need from personally meeting us at the airport to preparing our evening cocktails. Angela and Chef Dwi prepared great meals served by Mia. Kandora’s location on the northeast coast of Sumba is ideally situated to explore the rich heritage and natural resources of the eastern part of the island. Our Sumbanese driver Michael spoke perfect English and his local knowledge was enlightening . After a day of exploring there is nowhere better to return to than the luxury and comfort of the Kandora and its amazing staff. We really hated to leave and in retrospect wished we had stayed a few more days.

The scenery is very relaxing and the beach is just a few steps away. The location is far away from everything but that's part of why we chose to stay there. It's really peaceful and Blandine's cooking skills are truly next level! You won't stay hungry, trust me :) We hired a driver that was recommended to us and we're very happy with his service too. It's so worth it to go on a day trip and explore nature in East Sumba! The tide was very low during our stay, so unfortunately a snorkeling trip wasn't possible. In the end that didn't bother us because overall the time at Sumba Dream ecoresort was just perfect. Thank you so much, Blandine and Laurent!
