The Boundary Yala, hotel in Kataragama

Located in Kataragama, 8.3 miles from Situlpawwa, The Boundary Yala provides accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

Spacious clean AC rooms very close to Yala’s Katagamuwa entrance. We had our own front porch in a very peaceful private garden setting. The owner and host, Kapila, took care of all our needs, and arranged our full day safari for the next morning. He is a retired environmental journalist who knows plenty about all the SL national parks, especially Yala and the animals. We had an excellent safari driver and jeep. Kapila accompanied us on the safari which was a treat because he shared all his knowledge of the past, present and future of Yala, as well as all the details of every bird, mammal, reptile, insect we saw. The host family cooked us a most delicious homemade meal of rice and curry/fruits and cold beers. Just make sure you let Kapila know that you will want dinner beforehand, and anything else you want. I highly recommend boundary yala for your yala safari and stay. We enjoyed our time there and saw everything and learned a lot about the animals.

Yakaduru - Yala, hotel in Kataragama

"Yakaduru Yala is located on the buffer Zone of Yala National Park. It’s Just 5 minutes away from the Yala National Park Entrance.

Everything was totally perfect, the location is magical, literally a part of a the jungle, so quiet and beautiful. The staff are very friendly, responsive and we were greeted with 3 traditional Sri Lankan dances. The food was okay, not my cup of tea but again this is personal preferences, other people in the camp enjoyed the food. It was definitely worth every penny, the safari was very well organized, on time, the drivers are very experienced. We didn’t see any leopards but we were lucky to spot a bear and some other people in the camp did see a leopard so I would say safaris are pure luck. But I will definitely recommend this place to everyone looking for a short getaway.

I recently stayed at the Sparkling Resort and had a wonderful experience. The Resort was spotlessly clean, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay!

The atmosphere and resort were fabulous, evening entertainment was unexpected and amazingly enjoyable. The food was delicious and served without the usual Sri Lankan heat. This is not for everyone but for those with an open mind a truly memorable experience.

The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. The outdoor design of the resort is unique and gives a great atmosphere. The dinner was very tasty and fair priced. The host encourages you the play some music with him in the evening. Unfortunately our room wasn't as good as the rest of the experience.

The resort was truly an experience. The location is near to Yala Nationalpark and there you can book your safari for the day. The atmosphere was something different especially at night. We had dinner with typical Sri Lankan food that turned out to be one of the best meals during the trip. And after that we played instruments in the group.

Defining words: hippy, relaxed, basic, beautiful, musical, rural, escapism. We stayed for 2 nights and did an all-day safari. The resort is beautiful, right by the river, and the staff are lovely and welcoming. It is very basic, so don't expect to feel clean all the time! And the cockerel will wake you at 4am, so definitely bring earplugs. But it's a lovely, crazy wonderland, and great place to base yourself for safari

What a beautiful place! Lovely hosts, great food, such a relaxing vibe. Music in the evening, if you want: playing percussion together. You can book your safari from here, the driver we had was awesome, not rushing through the park, providing us with lots of information about all animals. One of the nicest resorts i have ever been to, defenitely a must see!
