Poltava is a small town and there is not much to see here.Its a very slow paced city. Hardly anything to write about home. I enjoyed the pleasant weather during my stay at Poltava but I think it's not peculiar to Poltava city only, You can enjoy the same weather in other cities of Ukraine.
Old wornout city with some interesting buildings and very pleasent parks. Noone should leave Poltava without visiting Rotunda of Peoples Friendship. There is an outstanding view over Poltava from this point.
Poltava is a great destination for a short weekend. The road Kyiv-Poltava is very good and easy to drive on. Poltava itself is a relaxing green city with beautiful architecture, friendly locals and pleasantly low prices compared to Kyiv. I would highly recommend Poltava Museum, Kotlyarevsky House and Art Museum. All equally beautiful and worthwhile. The only downside was lack of places for breakfast. We only found one café near Aristokrat hotel which offered good choice of hot breakfast. Kozachka restaurant was great for dinner. Its location was perfect. Poltava was great in the evening and surprised us with the number of bars and cafes and fantastic atmosphere.
Poltava is a quiet town. Not for those who look to party. But if you want to live, be comfortable at a good price it's a great city. I enjoyed it very much and i would visit again.
Attractive city centre main avenue. Can't comment more on the city as a spent most of my time in the environs. Battle of Poltava museum just outside the city is well worth a visit - this battle in 1709 was very significant for the history of Ukraine, Russia and Sweden. Note: that you can buy, for little cost, an mp3 recorded tour in English and other major European languages, this is well worth it - it was very well recorded and informative.
Poltava it is one its on kind, once you visit this place you will fall in love if the city and its people. Every one is so friendly and warm as compared to may cities of Ukraine. Poltava is the best.
Poltava is my favorite place in Ukraine . Ukraine has issues with the condition of the roads , but in Poltava the roads seem to be in better shape . . I like the city center and the malls . Poltava seems to more well kept than other areas of Ukraine . I feel as though this area does well and the people enjoy a higher standard of living . This is what I felt . I still do not understand how the people live this well , with the monthly wage being 100 to 150 dollars .
Relaxing and a great spot for a weary traveller. A hub city well serviced for tourists. Has one of the best Italian restaurants in Ukraine. History abounds. The battle of Poltava (1709) museum and battle fields is a must see as is the monastery, Home of Gogol and other great writers Writer. check out the lookout at the eastern end of town and stroll down the main street. I thought the political statement and display of the Right Sector (Political Party) Flag on the historic monument to be highly inappropriate. hopefully they will remove it soon. I am told it only remains there under threats and intimidation. Poltava speaks the best pure Ukrainian, If you get to hear it spoken properly you will remember it as truly a beautiful melodic language.
The city of Poltava is a great base from which to visit the many cultural and historic sights in the Poltava region. Some of the places which we enjoyed visiting in the surrounding area were: 1.Dykanka 2.Gogolevo (museum of Nikolai Gogols house 3.Sharasinska ( large regional marketplace) 4.Mirgorod (famous for mineral springs) In Poltava we enjoyed visiting 1. The Battle of Poltava Monument and St Sampsoniy Church 2.The museum of the artistic Krychevsky family 3.The Pottery Museum and Library of Ukraine
Poltava is a native land of Ukrainian traditional food and literature language. City is good for 1-2 day trip. Nice Poltava battle and local region museum, lots of scenic view points and good traditional restaurants.

There is no problem with speaking foreign languages. And in fact you are in the very center of Poltava. You expect an old-fashioned (in the wrong sense of the word) place to stay in the Soviet style, and at best you are only glad to be staying in the heart of Poltava. But its modern and stylish apartment inside the building. Very stylish room furnishings, very comfortable beds. Impeccable cleanliness.

The whole staff was extremely friendly - almost all girls. Young atmosphere. Café always available. Clean and practical working desks in the hall. Two big and comfortable bathrooms. Everything clean. Basically all new. Comfortable to the main train station. Will definitely stay here, again, if I am coming back to Poltava. 100% approved!
I stayed at Centralnyi Hotel for 2 nights in September 2024. It is a small and pleasant hotel. Room was good and clean, Bed was very comfy. Wifi worked well. Location is good to explore Poltava, which is a beautiful city. Good restaurants nearby.
It's our third stay in this hotel, I believe it's the best place to stay near Poltava. I'd say the hotel itself scores 8, but bunnies, nutrias and other lovely animals running around are adding +5 points:)

Everything was very good. The room itself was immaculate, spacious, and equipped with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the housekeeping staff ensured everything was spotless daily. The location was perfect, close to major attractions yet quiet enough for a restful stay. We appreciated the attention to detail and the genuine effort to make guests feel special.
