We were initially considering cancelling our booking when we discovered that the Taroko National Park was still closed. However, we’re so glad we didn’t! We hiked to Luyi Lake from Shoufeng (trains are easy from Xincheng-Taroko station, a five-minute walk from the hotel). We cycled down the coast, and spent an entire day exploring the wonderful city of Hualien. Even without Taroko, this area is still very much worth a visit, and this hotel is the perfect place to stay while you do!
