What a charming place. We were warmly greeted as family and shown to a huge, spotless and magnificent room. Our host’s son in law is the chef who prepared a flawless Char koey tiaw, the essential local dish of noodles fresh bean sprouts and prawns, for our dinner, along with a delicious Lai chi kang, a fruity drink we’ve never sampled before, home made by our hostess. Our hosts took us out to a local Chinese breakfast place to eat like a local and everyone could not have been more congenial! There’s a lovely pool also. The place is a bit isolated outside of town, which makes it a quiet respite from the hubbub of Kota Baru. We had the best sleep of our trip here!

Authentic Malay food, Kelantanese food is simply different from the rest of the Malay states. Impressive Thai temple, especially the dragon boat temple. However, the monks ought to take better care of the stray dogs. Lots of them have scabs and in a pitiful state. Could have spent more time to witness Malay traditional arts and crafts.
This review is meant for my fellow Singaporeans. If you ever wondered what Singapore was like 20 or 25 years ago, do visit Kota Bharu. You will be overcome with nostalgia . That is what our country looked like before it has transformed itself into a metropolitan city. Seriously. If shopping and eating are activities you like , then spend at least 5 days here. Avoid the boutiques. Why pay twice the amount when you can get the same design and fabric for half the price at Siti Khadijah market? Be careful though. Some of the so called hand designed batik are actually mass produced at cottage factories. Be guided by your common sense. Do not be fooled by the friendly owners. And the Kelantanese are very friendly indeed. Getting around is fairly easy too. Just walk to the places of interest. Do not waste your money on taxis.
Favourite thai restaurant - Kengsom; delicious softshell crab with salted egg & bang nara prawn. And generous portion of food 👍🏼 No traffic jam travelling to town after 9am (on weekdays). It's quite easy to get parking. Short distance from the apartment to the eating places, the furthest we drove within KB town was 3km 😊 Kelantanese people are generally friendly. Most people that we met greeted us and asked where we were from. And we happily replied to them "dari kolumpo" (from KL) The fun part was driving in search of good kelantanese food. We managed to sample food from: ✔️Restoran Nasi Ulam Cikgu ✔️Sun Two Restaurant ✔️Kopitiam Kita ✔️Kengsom Thai Restaurant ✔️Medan Ikan Bakar Kedai Buloh ✔️Kahfi Tomyam ✔️Yati ayam percik - only bought the dessert called "butir nangka" as the shop wasn't open for business when we reached there at 1130am (ayam percik coild nly be ready at 1215pm, but we couldn't wait as we had to catch our flights) We had a great time! InshaaAllah will return soon with my kids & husband 👌🏼
The only reason I am stay in Kota Bharu is because of Pasar Siti Khadijah ... experience the Kelantan's culture & almost everything are there..
Kota Bharu? If you are a food hunter, go to Kota Bharu! This is like a heaven full of food! Here's some places that you must visit when you get here! KB Mall, one of the best mall before Aeon mall exist! Kampung Kraftangan KB, where you can shopping for souvenir there, and when you get tired, have lunch there at Nasi Ulam Cikgu! The best nasi ulam in town! Beaches lover ? There are Pantai Cahaya Bulan, Pantai Irama, Pantai Seri Tujuh! And food? Maggie ketam! Maggie udang, ice cream kelapa! Banana cheese! And many others! Go there, don't just hear me, go try and taste it yourself! It'll worth your money. Don't worry about the price! Kelantan have the cheapest price for foods! 😄
The Istana Batu Royal Museum is worth a visit if you are interested in the Kelantanese royal monarchy. After the visit you may drop by for lunch just across the road at Nasi ulam Cik gu

Kota Bharu is a city center so do not expect much on nature - of course! Friendly people not only in kota Bharu, but also in the entire Kelantan - to see is to believe! Kota Bharu has so many good spots to visit, sweat a bit but it is okay with that. Local eateries, food spots are also in the vicinity. Those who travel by road (car especially) from KL, bear with the road condition upon entering Gua Musang (Kelantan border from Pahang) uneven road and covered pot holes. Somehow it teaches us to drive slowly and carefully~

I love Kelantan’s food and people. They were nice to me even the Grab driver. It’s a safe place to travel for girls trip.
Very tasteful home furnishing. Simple and stylish, minimalist. Pleasant colour scheme. Bedding is comfortable. Kitchen equiped with microwave, Coway water system, electric kettle and stove. Sufficient supply of clothes hanger to do our washing. The shower strong water pressue was a plus. Finally, the view of Kelantan River from the living room is awesome at sunset. My family feels comfortably at home staying in the apartment for 4 days.
We love the daily Night market at Hotel door step. Don't miss eating the fresh butter prawn at Hotel lift is very unique manual door entrance exit. We had a great laughter every time we take the lift because we used to forget that we need to open the door manually. Many shops around the hotel. Good overnight stay for us as stopover before departure to Kedah. We will stay Jewel again on our next visit to Kelantan

The house is very tidy and cosy. Many things were prepared by the owner including towels, kitchen apppliances, shower foam and shampoo as well..i think staying here is much much better than staying in hotel with the spacious house and affordable price.. Plus the unifi TV - my kids really enjoy it!! Very recommended to stay here and i will definitley stay here again if im coming back to kelantan next time..

Love the breakfast selection especially the local Kelantanese dishes offered. Wide arrays of choices and this was one of the best offerings by the hotel. The housekeeping staff is very responsible and dedicated. They did a great job making the room we stayed in during the entire stay.
The room was big and valued for my money. The location is nearest to the popular areas like pasar siti khadijah, kopitiam kita, and so on. The hotel is clean and the staff was so nice. I would like to stay here again if i come back to Kelantan next time. Recommended
Location is quite convenient as it is not too far by driving to Siti Khadijah market, Kelantan muzium, etc. Hotel looks very modern and the lobby got many interesting amenities, such as free flow tea/coffee, infused waters, room for kids to play.
