Staff at this property truly go above and beyond for the customer to enjoy their stay and do so from the heart. Special thanks to our target shooting “coach”. We loved the rustic cottages, the garden, the facilities ( pool, badminton, playground, archery and target shooting) and the view of the waterfall. We had tea, dinner and breakfast and everything tasted great. Upon request, the staff took the trouble to go get a special treat that my husband wanted to taste. It appears that this new resort is very much interested in sustainability and integration in the local community. We loved our stay there and highly recommend it to all.

Situated in Egalla, Birds Park Polgahawela offers 3-star accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, a restaurant and a bar. We ended up here because we changed our travel plans while already in the train. This was no problem, they welcomed us like royalty. The room was spacious, clean and classy. Food from the restaurant was fairly priced and tasted great. Great bed and shower.

Either the hotel has meanwhile improved or others were just unlucky, but we didn’t experience any of the negative aspects mentioned in the comments. We had a brand new refurbished and very clean room with touch screens, air-con was working perfectly. The pool is very clean, we spent several hours in there. Breakfast buffet has a large choice (both western and Sri Lanka) with great quality. We also went for the diner buffet, wich also offered excellent food at a reasonable price (6000 rupies for two persons except drinks). The hotel lies in walking distance from the train station on a main road, but our room headed to the inner court with the swimming pool and we could not hear any traffic. I can’t say anything about the TV program as I’m not staying in hotels to watch TV.
