Manager is a really nice bloke and has decorated the hotel with interesting and tasteful art. Nice bath house. Good size, comfortable rooms.

A 2-minute walk from JR Yamagata Train Station, Comfort Hotel Yamagata welcomes guests with a cup of coffee, and treats them to free Wi-Fi and a free breakfast buffet featuring freshly baked bread... Comfort Hotel Yamagata is the ideal location for staying in Yamagata city and exploring the area around - just a short walk from the station and the bus depot. We used it as a base for visiting Yamdera and Mount Zao. There are plenty of restaurants nearby too. It was a very short stay this time (just one night!) so no chance to explore the city itself (which I've done many times on previous trips anyway), but you are close to bus stops to take you into the city centre if you want to head that way. We used the coin op laundry for the first time and it was very efficient. The rooms are the typical smaller Japanese hotel rooms, but absolutely fine for what we needed. Very good value for money. The bus from Sakata dropped us just over the road, and there are frequent buses to other cities e.g. Sendai from the nearby bus station, plus of course Yamagata station is one of the stops for the Tsubasa shinkansen. Very easy access from Tokyo, Sendai etc. by rail.

Directly connected to JR Yamagata Shinkansen (bullet train) Station, Hotel Metropolitan Yamagata offers comfortable guest rooms with warm colours and modern facilities. Excellent Location, the building was connected with Yamagata JR station. Once we got off the Shinkansen and walked out of the station gate, it just lead straight to the hotel entrance with 1 minute short walk. So convenient! The room we received was the South tower which was relatively new. It's very neat and tidy. Within a small stroll, you can reach many restaurants and bars around the station. Highly recommend!
