Absolutely fantastic. Rooms are huge and clean with all equipment to cook if wanted. Felt like a local living in Japan as the place was spacious and very cozy. Breakfast in the morning was great and they have welcome drinks. A few mins walk to the bus station, can literally walk over buy tickets and come back to the hotel for breakfast.

Paid by card for the stay at the hotel.

We were graciously upgraded upon our arrival. We were hosted by Issekei-san (apologies if it was not the right spelling!). Parking needs to be reserved in advance. We suggest guests to reach out to the hotel ahead of time. It is 1000 yen per day at a parking spot near the hotel (1-2 mins walk). Issekei-san and his team demonstrated kindness and hospitality to me and my family by carrying our luggages from across the street (where I temporarily parked to get parking directions), and ensured that we were comfortable. He even made accommodations for us when other guests used up all the dryers such that we were able to complete our laundry by the end of our trip! The rooms and the onsens were also marvelous! The Machiya is truly worthy of its high rating. I'd visit Takayama again just for this hotel ^_^

You could tell the owner put in so much love into the place. They clearly know what they like when they stay at hotels and decided to put in their favorite aspects into their own hotel.

The amount of complimentary foods and drinks was crazy. Both the public and private onsen areas were absolutely spectacular. I also loved the hot spring foot bath next to the hotel entrance. Very cozy during the evening. Hotel staff was really nice. Restaurant dinner and breakfast were both amazing. The hotel rooms blew our minds.
Amazing facilities with beautiful mens and women’s onsens + a mixed gender onsen and private onsens. The apartments were clean and had everything we needed. Overall the stay was great value as well compared to other similar hotels we have stayed in. The best part of the experience was the food. They easily made incredible vegan food to accommodate our dietary needs, with deluxe multi course balanced meals for breakfast and dinner.
Wow. If you're looking for the quintessential Japanese ryokan experience, look no further. This place was amazing, the beautiful Japanese tatami room, helpful and friendly staff, delicious food and excellent onsen baths, that allow for mixed gender bathing wearing a special towel. Located in a rather secluded valley next to a river is great plus.
Next to bus stop and ropeway. Rooms are big and clean. There is indoor and outdoor onsen. Surrounding area is scenic. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Resort is very well-maintained and clean, albeit a little old. There is shuttle bus service between Takayama station and the resort. The guest onsen at level 5 and 7 is wonderful after a long day outside. It comes with indoor and outdoor pools. It was snowing when we were at the outdoor pool, it was an amazing experience. Housekeeping provides turn-down service every evening to prepare the futons for sleeping. We truly enjoyed our stay here.

Posizione in collina. Viaggiando in auto andava bene, distante dalla stazione. Letti comodissimi con due tipi di cuscini. Poltrone massaggianti nella hall ed anche bevande calde o fredde a disposizione. Diversi intrattenimenti a disposizione ma non provati. Onsen con vista bello. Sala ristorante con vista. Pasti buoni.
