Located in Kolkata’s main shopping district, the New Market and business district, The Oberoi Grand Kolkata houses an outdoor pool, gym and spa. I’m penning this after 25 days of its occurrence due to my travel. Any amount of words and phrases will not add up to what this team and the whole organisation has done for us … sorry but not sorry this is going to be lengthy! I planned my parents 59th Wedding Anniversary way ahead from Hong Kong. It was a very special celebration for us as a family. I couldn’t think of any better property than THE OBEROI GRAND in my home town Calcutta. Finally the day arrived. We excitedly journeyed towards our destination on the 1st of March( it was a 2 nights getaway) Having been told to wait for check in as they were upgrading the rooms as a special gesture… a good start I thought. we were checked in & had a very sumptuous meal at the coffee shop. After we went to the room, it was nice big and airy decorated room for my parents with a balcony overlooking the hotel pool. I tucked my Parents in to their room to have a rest everything was good and, I left to go to our room few meters ahead. Again a beautiful big room. I had some errands to run and I was away from the hotel for 2.5 hrs while my parents rested. Behind my mind I was at peace & planning what to do that evening and how we were going to begin the celebrations and make it even more special. I got back visited my parents, had my father get ready (who is a permanent wheelchair bound ) told my mother to get ready as I went to my room to get unpacked and changed , while I was still in between my shower and getting ready, I got a phone call from my mother on my mobile, in distress she called for help. I instantly sent my husband to their room and I followed immediately after I was out of the shower. The real dilemma begins here… When I got my mothers call, I thought something happened to my dad or he fell off the wheelchair… alas it wasn’t the case. My mother was having a pain in her left hand and it was going to her jawline and her chest was heavy!
