This was one of the best places I've ever stayed in. The staff were super nice and helpful, all was impeccably clean, the apartments, garden and pool are all beautiful and its only a few minutes from one of the best beaches in that part of Guadeloupe.

The view was just amazing, it’s a very special and beautiful place in the middle of the nature. The hosts was great and very helpful. I swim with turtles, walk in the nature, did see lot of beautiful waterfall. The energy in this island is great ! Feels like home.

Our visit was slightly 'out of season', so the town was not as lively as it probably gets in 'high season', but we found it delightfully 'un-tourist-y', very laid-back, and a perfect place to unwind and recover from a very hectic period of work. There is a whole line of restaurants and bars along the Boulevard des Poissonniers, overlooking the harbour, my favourite of which is 'Mahina', which serves possibly the best Pizza i've ever tasted, and their house ice cream is really good too! Numerous other places to eat, mostly serving typically local dishes that are just a bit different, so no shortage of options. Once in the town, Deshaies is easily walkable - you can walk from end to end in just a few minutes - but if staying outside town, a rental car would be recommended, to get to and from the town and to the many local beaches. If renting a car, don't miss the opportunity to visit the various waterfalls and other sights on the Route de la Traversee, and if time permits, a walk up La Souffriere (an active volcano, in the south of Basse-Terre) is worth the effort. There is a well-marked pathway to the top, which takes up to two hours in each direction. We stayed at a self-catering apartment about 5kms north of Deshaies town (Residence Simona, which we'd highly recommend), but found it easy to drive into town each evening for a meal.
Small village in a good location, about halfway between Basse-Terre, Guadeloupes capital, in the south and Grand Case with nice restaurants and a beautiful beach in the north. Great snorkelling at the Cousteau reserve right at the doorstep. Nice zoo.
We enjoyed Basse-Terre (stayed around Deshaies) and found it less busy than Grande Terre. We loved the beaches - even though the parking lots might have appeared busy, the beaches themselves did not feel busy. Swimming was amazing - warm, calm, clear waters with firm sandy bottoms. We love French food and wine so were very pleased to be able to have a choice of great wine, cheese, pates, croissants, baguettes etc - not to mention all the fresh fish and fabulous beach side restaurants.

I can't imagine better place for stay! Good location for beaches and exploring Basse-Terre. Restraunts and supermarkets are in short distance with car In carre royal you have everything you need, beautiful view, comfortable room, good bathroom, some kitchen facilities. We haven't got a kitchen, but we have fridge,we can take plates,cups etc from public zone. And available coffee and tea❤️ so if you don't want to cook you will have everything you need to make fast breakfast,for example Owners are the best and super welcome
Pointe-Noire
Excellent price, great value for money. Convenient location if your focus is on the numerous attractions of the West (Caribbean) coast of Basse-Terre and if you have a car. The quality of the apartment is outstanding. Everything is modern and very clean. Very comprehensive kitchen equipment. All you could ever need is available. Strong WiFi. Quiet, apart from the occasional car along the road. Strong hot water supply. Good communication with host who lives on site and is flexible. Would book again.
Pointe-Noire
Once we found it, the location was perfect and check in easy. The hosts are extremely kind, accommodating, welcoming and generous. We stayed in the 1-bedroom apartment as the 2-bedroom was needed for a larger group. But the 1-bedroom was lovely for a couple. The veranda was delightful. Convenient to many aspects of Basse-Terre -- Deshaies area, Pointe-Noire, Rue de Traverse, etc. Highly recommend this lodging
Deshaies
The location is good to go explore the western coast of Basse-Terre, nearest gorgeous beaches are walking distance. Lots of solo travellers, which is nice. Next to the hostel there is a place to eat, every evening they have something else, so I didn't feel the need to cook. (There are cooking facilities available though.)

Tiny but tidy apartment with a nice terrace set in a beautiful garden. Close to the best beach in Basse-Terre. Hosts speak French, German and English.
We really enjoyed our stay at Langley. The staff was fantastic, the facilities were always clean, we enjoyed the restaurant and the beaches were great. We were looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay and that's exactly what we experienced here!

Had the best time at Chez Swann, everything was perfect. Miss working from the deck with breathtaking view. Cedric was super helpful and shared local tips, we will be back!
