Definitely visit Sõrve säär, Kaali meteor crater and the springs in Saaremaa. Oh and take few empty bottles to fill up the bottles with the refreshing and super clean spring water. We saw so many animals in Saaremaa that it makes the rest of the country see poor of animals (or they're just hiding in deep forest). If you want an calm environment then visit Saaremaa for sure.
A small nice town with lot of sights and remarkable restaurants and cafes, the main town in Saaremaa. There is a beach also but it wasn't impressive... Unfortunately, if you would like to see the other parts of Saarema not only Kuressare and don't have a car, it is a little problematic. There are not excursions organized by local travel agencies. They have gids' phones instead (also in web pages) and you are to make agreements with them. We went to see the Caali crater in such a way and the cost was € 25.
Kuressaare is a place for peaceful days off, those loving spas and people who like to eat well at reasonable price. Otherwise, our impression is that not much happens there (except during the opera festivals). A big plus is that, for a small town, it has many nice restaurants, especially if you go off the touristic center. The bishop's castle has been beautifully restored and houses the Saaremaa museum. The museum is interesting - only, pity that the old exhibitions are only in Estonian and Russian.
It's a beautiful town with many things to see. Also Saaremaa is one of the most beautiful places in Estonia.
Kuressaare is small town. It is a capital of Saaremaa Island but it looks rather like a village. The only historical treasures worth to see is the Castle and maybe the stone bridge but nevertheless I like this town and its atmosphere.
If the weather had been warmer and my time available longer, I would of loved to explore more of this beautiful island. Visit the castle at the very minimum and if you have time, Saaremaa Veski for some great food and service.
Lively town with plenty of historical spots, excellent restaurants, cafes ans spas. You can also reach easily all attractions of the Saaremaa island from Kuressaari by car.
Kuressaare is a lovely part of Saaremaa, I'd really recommend going if you like the outdoors. The museum inside the castle is amazing and tells a bit of the island's history. I'd suggest staying near the old town so it's easy to walk around the place. I loved the Primo's snack bar which is local place that sells fast food, their burger is amazing. And also the Classic Kohvik, an adorable café with great food and ambiance.
Very nice town, heart of Saaremaa. Spa are very nice . Also very nice adventure park / Seikluspark- K-Pargi Kuressaare Seikluspark , just 5 minutes walk by foot from town Centre . Very interesting for children and grown-ups!:)
It was a very relaxed and quiet town, but maybe we went there just before the tourist season starts. Cafe/Restaurant Mosaiik had really good food! Do not recommend Nautica - it is not worth the title restaurant. Since Saaremaa is quite small, then I recommend to visit other parts of it too, not only Kuressaare.
Kuressaare
It was the third apartment we've stayed in Saaremaa and it was definitely the best one. The place is very spacious and bright, much bigger than it looks from the photos. The kitchen is facing east while living room and bedroom is facing west, so it's really bright throughout the day and you can enjoy watching beautiful sunsets from the living room. Everyhing was clean and nice. And the bathroom is reaaaly big! I can highly recommend Aia apartment and we're looking forward to coming back there next time we visit Saaremaa.
Suure-Rootsi
I have been using Booking.com more than 10 years and only a few places I stayed at deserved full marks as strongly as Rannamäe Apartments. It had everything - a picturesque location, wonderfully comfortable apartment with full size kitchen, great bathroom, places to enjoy meals outside or just to sit there and let the scenery soak in. The hosts were friendly too. It's 20 min drive to Kuressaare if you need anything. It was a perfect getaway to Saaremaa, we hope we can go there again.
Kuressaare
Excellent apartment located about 20 mins walk from central Kuressaare. Quiet area, parking right outside the building, large Maxima food store across the road. Very comfortable apartment with all the necessary amenities. Large dinner table which became my workspace for half the day too :) We arrived on a later ferry, however the host Grazina kindly met us after check in hours to hand over the keys :) Overall highly recommended, will gladly stay again if ever on Saaremaa island!
Kuressaare
Excellent apartment for the price category - everything as described, very spacious (large room and separate bedroom), recently and well furnished, large and quite comfy bed. We didn't make much use of them, but seemed to have good facilities for self-catering. Very centrally located, free parking in the inner yard. Will certainly consider again for our next visit to Saaremaa.
Kuressaare
The location is great with a nice view from the windows. It has a minimalistic design with eye-pleasing colors. It has everything you need to cook food, even a small coffee maker. And the bathroom has soap, shampoo, and shower gel. The hotel staff responded fairly quickly to my Booking.com chat requests. It's probably one of the best places to stay in Saaremaa.
Kuressaare
It was very clean with good kitchen facilities. My room was lovely and quiet. Not far to walk to turn but there were bikes to hire in the hostel. Good to cycle locally but Saaremaa is big. Bus station minutes away so you could get public transport to Angla windmills. There were midsummer festivities, folk dancing and bonfire on the beach at the time of my visit.
Very nice little hostel in a good location. There's a very interesting story behind the name of the hostel (no spoilers! :)) - tip for the host: provide even more information about the Kingdom of Torgu, it's fascinating! The kitchen was the best we had during our 12 day bicycle trip around Saaremaa. Good room, clean throughout. Great value.
Kuressaare
- Great location in Saaremaa, the town is very lovely - We liked the large living room with different spots to chill - Kitchen is well equipped - Sauna was very much appreciated - Even if the apartment is next to a road, it was very calm during the day and night - Last but not least, the owners were kind and helpful anytime
Orissaare
Well, this is something! Julian and Ulna are great hosts that welcomed us in Estonian heaven (with a tasty welcome pack). Our red cottage was a perfect base for exploring the beautiful Saaremaa island. And you definitely have to try Julian's pizza! Highly recommended.
we have been in Georg Otsa several times, many years- our favorite hotel in Saaremaa. Hotel and spa is very nice, excellent location.
Kuressaare
It was a very nice apartment with all what we need! Thank you very much for this nice days with family on Saaremaa!
Kuressaare
MARIA ROOMS IN KURESSAARE SAAREMAA ESTONIA = SCORES 10+ ALL AREAS EXCELLENT = HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!
Everything was perfect, the spa side had alot of saunas, big pool and slide for kids and more. Breakfast was so delicious, gym was there for training, many activities more. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good value for money. Room was quiet and clean.
We chose this hotel mostly for the pool and saunas. We were not disappointed. Saunas and pool work all day from 9 am till 10 pm. All saunas are good, well heated. There is a main pool, two jacuzzi, a hot water pool/bath, cold water pool, plenty of showers, bar with drinks and snacks. The room was nice, comfortable, and clean. Breakfast is self-serve and tasty.
Staff were amazing- level of service was superb. We were also blessed with a room upgrade- massive room, the most comfortable beds and facilities. So very clean. Beautiful and peaceful surroundings. Food was breathtaking- breakfast wide and varied (and more than we could eat as our eyes were larger than our stomachs). Dinner at Alexander was superb and not to be missed.
It was ok. Nice location. The owner was very friendly; he came to pick me up from the bus station, and even took me to the event centre. 10 to 15 minute trekking to the city center. I enjoyed my stay!
perfect location! Close to the city, shops etc but the territory was very quiet - had a perfect stay for our last night at Saaremaa. About our house - we had clean bedsheets and even a heater for colder nights! In the area there were a lot of grills with tables. Of course, had to bring our own dishes and equipment for grilling. But also you can buy it on the spot at the reception:) Saw a lot of people complaining about Soviet feeling there but that's what you would get in any camping in Baltics. Also the price (60eur for 5 persons) is more than ok for this place. Last thing - the toilets were surprisingly clean and new.
It is calm and within the woods.
Excellent stay that exceeded our expectations. The newly built SPA area is very suitable for relaxation and families. Very helpful and communicative host. Warmly recommended.
