Outside of town, but perfectly located on the main road to all the best adventure activities so it is super easy to catch a bus or taxi and the staff are always happy to help whether you're looking for public or private transportation. The restaurant on site is wonderful and there are a few other food options on the same complex. The rooms are very modern, spacious and extremely well kept. The bathroom comes well stocked with toiletries and their signature scent is really lovely, gosh I miss it! Everything is well ventilated so you can leave your gear to dry after watersports or if you would prefer to have it cleaned immediately, the laundry service is super quick and very affordable. Overall a really great spot at face value but the Trip Monkey staff are what really makes it special! Joss speaks perfect English and gives phenomenal recommendations. Give him an idea of what you like and he will have the perfect itinerary for you in seconds. There are a lot of great activities available through the hotel, all of which he has tried himself so just know the recommendations are coming straight from the heart! As an added bonus, you can pay for most of them through the hotel as well so you do not have to worry about carrying extra cash exploring. Fernando is an absolute sweetheart as well and always eager to help. The Santander region is extremely beautiful with something for everyone and Trip Monkey del Río is the perfect base camp. Stay as long as you can, this is the perfect place to make lifelong memories with the most wonderful people ☺️

Although San Gil / Santander is not on the list of most travellers I met in my way, i find it a pity as this place is more authentic, there is quite lot of things to do and the people are very chilled and easy going compared to for eg Santa Marta. I really wish I had a few more days here.
I strongly recommend this place to every backpacker. It's a very social hostel, with great common areas, very welcoming and confortable. Rosalba and Daniela will directly make you feel at home and are always there to help you with any question you might have. I liked this place so much that I came back for another night after spending a few days more in the north of Santander. On the long drive from Santander to Medellín, I needed a place to spend the night as it was getting late and I was very tired. The Booking.com app turned up this gem of a hotel in Barrancabermeja, where I enjoyed a very pleasant night. It's perfect for a night's stay—it is clean, has strong wifi, is located in in close proximity to restaurants, and has adjacent secure parking. Perfect for breaking up a long journey! Bonus: the unique Cristo Petrolero statue is located only 5 mins away on foot.
All meals are delicious and provided at the lobby/ check in area at breakfast lunch and dinner. They offer delicious Santander staples such as arepa and caldo. They have a wonderful hotel suite that is separated from all the others. Perfect for honeymoons

The staff was very nice. Workers go the extra mile to help you. The restaurant treats you like a vip and breakfast is all included. The neighboorhood is safe and there's shopping malls, pharmacy, casino, supermarkets all walking distance of the hotel. Thank you BGA! Our home away from home.
Nothing, we just needed to stay there because of the night time of arrival, otherwise I'd rather book somewhere else. They even called the room at midnight because they needed the main guest's name when I checked in at the reception at 7 pm. So unpleasant. Staff is drinking beers at the reception. Nothing professional.
