I love Plovdiv. Even going there for the day. The old town is great and some good restaurants as well are in place. Just waking around the walking area and the old town is enough. Some cultural events are happening in summer and when Kapana fest is one is also really nice - hand made and art are mixed in one. Concerts at the amphitheater is a must - I recommend!
It's easy to see why Plovdiv it is the cultural capital of Bulgaria. It reminded us a lot of Florence, Italy. There are plenty of great restaurants and shops as well as a rich cultural history. We visited Roman ruins, a beautiful mosque and lots of churches all within walking distance of the center.
Plovdiv is a great city to visit during fall and spring. So much to explore but this was the first time I actually could stay outside all day and experience all that is Plovdiv. The summer heat is oppressive and not conducive to sightseeing. Take the time to visit all of the old houses that are now museums. There is also an amazing sweets shop at mosque in the center.
Plovdiv was one of the coolest cities I've visited. It is just the right size to get around by foot and you really don't have to hassle around with taxis or public transportation if you don't want to. Locals are super friendly, the city has A LOT of cool places and sights which just breathe history, and food in traditional Bulgarian restaurants is just exquisite. Even though we didn't plan out our stay that much, in Plovdiv there was always something around the corner to hear, see and experience. I can only recommend visiting Plovdiv, this amazing place which no one (yet) knows about!
Plovdiv is full of both fascinating history like the Ancient theater and beautiful tourist areas like the Singing Fountains. I spent 5 days in Plovdiv and every day went on a new adventure. On top of that, the food and drinks are very cheap and I went to many great eateries while on vacation there.
Lovely city, very picturesque. Lots of things to do both day and night. The Old Town is a pleasure to wander around, with lots of museums to soak in. Plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from, most of which were great, I recommend looking up the online reviews as we had 1 bad experience but every other restaurant was lovely. Plovdiv Trips have some excellent tours to do and the guide Kamen was so friendly and full of knowledge. We were lucky enough to catch a concert in the Ancient Roman Theatre, which was an unforgettable experience. Cannot wait to go back to Plovdiv again!
Old Plovdiv is fabulous...the cobbled streets and amazing houses.The best part of the trip was an evening of classical music at the Roman amphitheatre. Perfect night in an amazing location. Can't wait to go back.
Plovdiv city is the oldest town in Europe and one of the oldest on Earth. There is so much history and places to see. Two Roman amphitheatres plus one is functional, The Old City and more. Highly recommended destination and friendly people.

Plovdiv is a great city. It is full of history, great architecture and great food. We really enjoyed staying in the Kapana district. It’s a very walkable neighborhood with lots of sites to see!
