Really comfortable stay, from a last minute booking. Everything was just what we could have needed. Ruth came over with extra bedding and a bottle of fizz for my birthday. Very smart apartment style room. Modern and spotlessly clean and the hosts had left a huge range of snacks. The kitchenette was well equipped, Bathroom excellent with soap and shampoo etc. The bed was very comfortable. The owner was really friendly. It is located in a smart residence. We stayed to attend an event at the nearby Cricket club but the area has history and beautiful countryside.

However the price was very affordable, in line with places that were much less spacious and with fewer amenities and lesser quality. The Pickled Pheasant was conveniently located just outside the Peak District, a short drive to the Dales. Easily accessed off a main thoroughfare, but very quiet and peaceful. The room featured a true king size bed, large walk-in shower, window seating, desk seating, an armoire, and (rare for much of the country) washcloths in addition to hand and bath towels. We opened the large windows in the morning and enjoyed the beautiful sound of (nearby but not loud) church bells There is a pub and breakfast dining area on the main level. WE only stayed one night so were not able to take advantage of the walking guide that was provided with specially designed hikes beginning at the lodging. We would definitely choose to stay at the PIckled Pheasant again!

Very pretty cottage, great location (10 mins walk from the centre). The ground floor has a well appointed kitchen and a very nice living room with a smart TV. The first floor had 2 nice decent sized rooms and a common toilet. Everything was kept neat and clean.
