Both travellers on the road and on a budget rely on motels for convenient stops with reasonable rates. Direct access to parking makes a motel an easy place to catch some sleep after a day of driving. The relatively smaller size of this accommodation type can also help to make check-in quick and easy.
Can't believe I didn't realise that it literally borders the Port Arthur Historic Site! You can literally buy tickets and walk straight into the site from the motel.
Accommodation was nothing particularly spectacular, but I mean it had clean, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and everything worked - what else do you want from a motor inn? Food was pretty good in the bistro, which overlooks the historic site too.
The reception staff were very helpful helping us deal with the fact that there had been a duplicate booking in our name and they then contacted booking.com to cancel this second booking. We were both very impressed by their professional attitude as we were concerned that we might be charged for a booking we didn't make. I would recommend this motel to other travellers.
Charming pub-style main house with a beautiful bar & restaurant. Rooms were motel style, adequate for one night stay and value for money. The view from the room was spectacular. Coffee machine was a nice treat.
The fox and hounds is a great choice if you find yourself in Port Arthur: comfortable, well-equipped and with a great restaurant on site. We enjoyed our stay here and loved the views over the lake.
There’s also a laundry on site - very convenient if you’ve been on the road for a couple of weeks!
Great spot. Was a motel looking room from the outside but opened into a very spacious and modern room with a great view of the water from the room.
Had dinner in the restaurant, food was good and staff very friendly.
Room and bed were big enough and comfortable and clean.
Restaurant and pub attached to motel. Best place to eat as options are very limited at Port Arthur. Make sure you book ahead.
Back entrance into the historic site. We left accommodation the day we went to the site but were allowed to leave our car there and keep the room key for access into the site for the day. Dropped it in at end of day. Staff are super helpful.
The rooms were retro but very comfortable and had everything we needed. Great restaurant on site and the motel is on the doorstep of the Port Arthur Historic Site.
The motel is a beautiful old English style building, it looks unreal from outside, the back of the motel is a bay, the location is quite, secluded yet close to Port Arthur Historic Site, and we have the water view from our room, and the room is quite big, the restaurant has the old style too, reminds you of a really old pub in English countryside, food is good too.
View from room and motel surroundings were beautiful. Staff were super friendly.
