Iquitos
The Jacamar Lodge Expeditions is located on the banks of the Amazon River, in the middle of the jungle and 120 km from downtown Iquitos.
It is a rustic hostel that offers a variety of activities in the river and jungle. Jacamar Lodge Expeditions's bungalows are built with rustic materials and have private bathrooms, a terrace overlooking the river, mosquito nets and kerosene lamps.
After having stayed a night in Iquitos, I wanted to experience the jungle and decided to stay at a lodge. I am thrilled that I chose the Jacamar lodge - not necessarily for the lodge (basic and rustic accommodation, fairly priced), but because of the fantastic staff at the lodge and the amazing tour guide. I booked a night at the lodge, and was soon contacted to arrange a guide through the lodge (a must do, as it is difficult to explore independently).
My guide Christian knew the jungle inside out, spotted so many animals, was telling beautiful stories about the life in the jungle, and was very knowledgable about the plants and animals. In my two days in the jungle I did a jungle walk, night walk to spot reptiles (saw frogs, snakes, tarantulas, other spiders, bats, etc.), a 5:30 am sunset birdwatching cruise, dolphin spotting, and we went to a rescue center for monkeys rescued from the exotic animal trade. Please note that these were the activities that I wanted to do - Christian said from the beginning that I can chose what to do, and he will guide me. The activities were exceptional, but even the boat rides through the big and small rivers framed by dense forest, looking to spot animals and hearing about life in the jungle was magical.
The food at the lodge was very good. At the beginning they asked me about allergies and if I don't eat specifc things - I only eat fish and vegetarian food, and they cooked me great meals using the regional ingredients from the jungle.

Paraíso
The Amazon Muyuna Lodge is a rustic hotel in the Iquitos Jungle, situated on the Amazon river shore, 3 hours from the centre of Iquitos. It offers full board and a range of river and jungle excursions. All the meals were great and authentic to the area, good variety. The four days were all scheduled from morning to night which we loved. So much to experience from nocturnal jungle hikes and going out in the nocturnal hunt canoe ride. Many boat excursions, swam near pink dolphins, caught several piranha fish, saw many species unique to the area. Birdwatching. Took out the kayak and paddle board during our 2 hour afternoon rest. The remote private bungalows were so comfortable and clean. Loved resting in the hammock on our balcony. Guide Mosises spoke English well , very knowledgeable and grew up in the area. Flew to Iquito, had hotel pick up, a van drove part way before loading the boat to go down the Amazon river to our remote lodge 140 km upstream from Iguito. Very easy all inclusive experience.

We liked everything: the food, the jungle sounds, the scenery, the staff, our guide, the activities, the pool, and surely ore.

The overall lodge and accommodations were spot on for a jungle experience with some comforts of home. Staff was terrific, but most notable was our guide “Willy” who was masterfully outstanding in every way. And, the food was good as well.
Very good experience and Chip (owner) was extremely nice and helpful. Rooms are clean and have everything you need. They also have a nice view over the Amazon. Ask about jungle tours at their lodge, it was just great!
A large apartment, nicely appointed. Staff helped us find places to eat and shop in the area, and helped us get our luggage up the stairs to the room. They did our laundry for a reasonable fee. They held our luggage while we stayed at a jungle lodge down the river for a few nights.
We were welcomed into the most amazing lodge with the warmest hospitality. Beautiful location for relaxing and tons of local activities to do and things to see facilitated by the hosts. The food was amazing. We saw dolphins from our dock and swam in the river. My favourite stop in Peru.
Best lodge to visit the Amazon from Iquitos. All inclusive and as described and the pictures show. Super friendly staff that make you feel at home right from the start. Couldn’t recommend more.
The lodge was amazing, no windows, only nets instead, so at night you can hear all the natural sounds from birds and other animals. You can also swim in the river just from you lodge. There were also hammocks, chairs. Breakfast was great, the owner very helpful. They also offered some tours to buy, a guide and transportation to the city.
Pablo the owner is an authentic ambassador of the Kukama Culture. He is very engange socially to support and educate the people in his community. He is a very inspiring person. The Casa Kukama Lodge is a project to support the community. Before Covid he has there a school to teach children the Kukama language.
Everything, Chip is a fantastic owner. We had a walk around the block and we explained to me a lot of things, also he brought me to the rooftop for a couple of nice Amazon river shots. The room was comfortable, clean and with a working AC. The breakfast was juicy and had good portions. Free water in the common area, nice and friendly dogs also. If you like, Chip also has a lodge in the jungle to recommend (200 soles day).
This place was AMAZING and I loved staying here. The owner, Cesar, was always available, kind, and helped with everything, whether the questions were about food, transportation, or the room. The staff were tremendously helpful and courteous, warm, and always ready to assist. Sleeping in a lodge on the water was a treat and I definitely will return to this beautiful place and recommend it to everyone.
