Nice staff! Room was beautiful but could use an AC. Food was exceptional and the whole property was well taken care of.
Game Drives (additional cost) were also great. Molly our Ranger was very welcoming and we had a great time.

Easy to get to from PLZ, amazing staff, beautiful property and cabins, every meal was A+, and the game drives were so fun. Can’t say enough good things. And it’s worth saying again — EVERY member of the staff we interacted with was top notch. Friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, true pros.

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon in SA. We received a very warm welcome including a welcome drink and some lunch. Check-in was super easy, and we were given a tour of the premises. Our room was beautiful, with a lovely view over the game reserve, where we were able to spot warthogs, antelope and the baby hippo which lives in the waterhole. The service was fantastic, and nothing was a bother, they kindly decorated our room after one of our game drives with a selection of cheese and crackers and a bottle of wine, which went down very nicely! The game drives, however, were the highlight. We did 6 in total, each very different but all very special. our driver, Evence, was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to spot the animals from miles away! We managed to see rhinos, elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras and antelope all up close. Our stops for morning coffee and sundowners were always in beautiful locations and we had an array of choices of drinks. We would definitely recommend staying here

Everything was simply fantastic into the smallest detail.
The day was well organized with 2 daily drives, a fabulous brunch, lunch, and dinner, time to relax at the pool, lounge areas, or your fabulous room which was spacious and comfortable and had a beautiful view of the hills, the staff was very friendly and pampered us. The ranger on the drive was very knowledgeable. Every drive was a little different and we saw the Big Five, up close, and many other animals like zebra, giraffe, impala, hippo, hyena, warthog, …. It was a stay we will remember for the rest of our lives. Thank you!

Food was excellent. Staff super friendly and helpful. The lodge and rooms far exceeded my expectations.
Ideal for nature lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and have kitchen facilities. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than vacation homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
Small scale (4 individual bungalows) stylish accommodation in a private setting. The limited number of guests make it very enjoyable. Great ranger and nice team working at the main lodge.
The shearers lodge room we stayed in seemed ready for some TLC to be honest . Light not working in the coffee area . I am all for Shabby Chic but seemed just a bit too shabby . Loved the main house and dining area . Food was good and game drives were great .
We planned going to the Amakhala Woodbury Lodge on next day. We decided to stay at Leeuwenbosch for one night as it was 5 minutes to drive to Woodbury Lodge. We were very impressive with Leeuwenbosch because it was so beautiful and enjoyed our one night staying at Leeuwenbosch - everything were met our needs. We are highly recommendation to anyone must go there! Staff is so friendly and warm host to our check in. We would love to come back here again in the future. Luke & Jackie from Bury, England
Beautiful lodge with individual bungalows providing relaxing accommodation in an amazing setting.
Personal game reserve experience with Damien whose knowledge was incredible. Exciting one to one game drives seeing beautiful animals, birds and flowers in their natural habitat. Exceptional dining experiences.
I loved the setting. The main house is stunning but I loved Shearer’s Lodge because it was set further back and my room was spacious and appealing. The gardens and vegetation are fabulous especially when you find a beautiful zebra munching away at the grass on your front lawn. I also loved the set up - the game drives and meals were all organised and as I was travelling alone, it made me feel comfortable and at ease.
The location was perfect and the safari in the Amakhala reserve was amazing. The landscape was magic and we have memories that will stay forever. The lodge was also very confortable, and charming. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious. Similar to what you will get in a fancy restaurant.
everything, its one of a kind experience, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was amazing and the best thing was the safari drives very informative, fun and spectacular animals and nature and our guide Stan was great
2nd time we’ve stayed there and just as good as the first.
This is a great and far more cost effective way of safariing in Amkala Nature Reserve. The house and lodge are furnished in an old Dutch farm style which is lovel and the gardens/ pool make it unique in the area.
Far cheaper than the lodges in the park and only across the road so the safaris are exactly the same!
Absolutely fabulous experience in every way. The lodge room (number 2) exceeded all expectations from the arrival with flowers on the bed!
Wonderful, gracious and helpful staff. Super game drives with Mel a insightful guide. Great game spotting. Ample and delicious catering. Extremely sad to leave.
