Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
Quaint and homely .
Staff really friendly and helpful.
Great coffee downstairs from early morning and hot water available all the time.
Good size rooms with hair dryer and coffee.
Near Exit glacier , slightly outside town.
Major marines boat tours pick up from the lodge .
Really great base
I enjoyed the quiet, homey environment of the Glacier Creek Lodge, nestled just outside of the town of Seward. This location allowed us to be nearby to the 4th of July festivities, while still being able to rest and recover. I also liked the local artwork displayed throughout the lodge and the spaces' cleanliness.
We booked the cabin just couple of days prior to arrival to Alaska and had little expectations (all other places were fully booked and quite expensive). So, we were pleasantly surprised by the comfort the lodge has provided. I mean, we had all we needed - good beds, clean house, TV, WiFi, small kitchen and clean bathroom. The owner was very attentive and gave advices on some local activities. Me and my family spent wonderful couple of days in Seward and Spruce Goose lodge added to it greatly.
This lodge is in a great location. It's right at the turn off towards Exit Glacier and only 10 min away from Seward. The room was very clean and the staff was really friendly. There's a little creek that runs right next to the lodge so our kids loved looking at the clear water flowing through the rocks.
The location was amazing and the lodge wonderful. The helpfulness and friendliness of the staff was outstanding. They were most helpful in securing our luggage and transporting it to the ship while we went on another excursion.
The Sauerdough Lodge was right in the middle of Seward, close to shops, bars and restaurants. The apartment was clean and comfortable. Perfect for the night we stayed in Seward.
Very friendly, personal and comfortable with everything you need. Close to the Marine Wildlife Center, but a bit far away (to far to walk, especially when it is raining) from the cruise terminal and for the starting point of Kenai Fjord Tours. If you have a car, the perfect place to be. :-) I can highly recommend Trailhead Lodging- Seward.
Friendly staff and rustic location. Hourly shuttle into town was a nice bonus. Restaurant on premises was decent. One of the larger and nicer hotel/lodges in Seward. Hotel is spread out over several small two-story buildings on the property.
We had been doing a lot of driving around Alaska; staying in motels and lodges, so it was great having our own private space especially the kitchen and coffee pot!! It was clean, well maintained and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. We would definitely rent one of these apartments again.
