Tongariro Crossing Lodge, hotel in National Park

Set in tranquil surroundings with large landscaped grounds and a picturesque garden terrace with mountain views, Tongariro Crossing Lodge offers uniquely spacious rooms with historic character.

The great location and cleanliness of the facilities were both exceptional. However, the staff were what made my stay a 10/10, not only did they let me have a late checkout as I waited for my train but Marina and Louis also picked me up and dropped me off right at the train station. Incredibly friendly and accommodating!

we loved the old school game that was FREE for use. And the table tennis. The size of the living room and dining room was also great, with lots of room for kids to play when it was wet outside. Nice bedding and automatic heating in our room over night.

Amazing location and lovely host! Had many of the things we would want in a booking. One small suggestion would be to add a covering plate to the bottom of the door. There was a gap to the outside at the bottom of the door but we put a towel down against the door and that worked well.

The self-contained unit we stayed in is very comfy, especially the room bed and the sofa in the living hall. The room size is good for our family of 4. We can see Mt Ruapehu clearly behind our room. It is a 10-minute walk to the bar & restaurant from our lodge. In addition, it is just a 15-minute drive to Whakapapa village and another 15 minutes to drive up to the Skifield carpark. This is one of the best lodges we have stayed in New Zealand.

The property is really well located. We upgraded on arrival from a lodge room to a motel unit and this was perfect for our family. The owner was lovely and greeted us at reception. The motel unit was well set up, and lovely and warm.

I like how the stuff assess us to our room and how she tour us to every corner of the lodge. The room we're clean as well as the toilet, washroom, kitchen, dining and we really loved the entertainment area which gave us things to do like playing billiards.

Staff-Joy is such a happy person and goes above and beyond. She's always running around doing something. Facilities-You can really see that they are trying to spruce up the place and turn it into such a lovely place to stay. A lot of care and attention to detail is shown even as far as decorations to make it feel more homely compared to some lodges and backpackers I've stayed at. Kitchen-Kitchen is well stocked with items to use for cooking. Bed-It was comfy for me
