The staff are friendly and accommodating. The lodge is clean and we enjoyed using the new Spa and sauna.
Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
I recently stayed at Howards Lodge and had an exceptional experience. The lodge is well-maintained, offering comfortable and clean accommodations that made me feel right at home. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, always ready to assist with any requests. The location is perfect for exploring the surrounding area, with stunning views and easy access to local attractions. I highly recommend Howards Lodge to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
The self-contained unit we stayed in is very comfy, especially the room bed and the sofa in the living hall. The room size is good for our family of 4. We can see Mt Ruapehu clearly behind our room. It is a 10-minute walk to the bar & restaurant from our lodge. In addition, it is just a 15-minute drive to Whakapapa village and another 15 minutes to drive up to the Skifield carpark. This is one of the best lodges we have stayed in New Zealand.
The property is really well located. We upgraded on arrival from a lodge room to a motel unit and this was perfect for our family. The owner was lovely and greeted us at reception. The motel unit was well set up, and lovely and warm.
I like how the stuff assess us to our room and how she tour us to every corner of the lodge. The room we're clean as well as the toilet, washroom, kitchen, dining and we really loved the entertainment area which gave us things to do like playing billiards.
Staff-Joy is such a happy person and goes above and beyond. She's always running around doing something.
Facilities-You can really see that they are trying to spruce up the place and turn it into such a lovely place to stay. A lot of care and attention to detail is shown even as far as decorations to make it feel more homely compared to some lodges and backpackers I've stayed at.
Kitchen-Kitchen is well stocked with items to use for cooking.
Bed-It was comfy for me
