Our stay at Te Awa was the perfect welcome to New Zealand. Our hosts provided a personal experience for us in the Bay of Islands. The setting couldn’t have been more spectacular on the banks of the river, and our room was very comfortable and peaceful. We enjoyed the pool each afternoon, following a day of exploring, and watched the moon rise each evening from the expansive deck. Breakfasts were delicious and prepared us for a day of activity. We appreciated every recommendation provided by Martin and Joelson. They definitely set the bar for the rest of our time in New Zealand. If you have the chance to stay here, we couldn’t recommend it more highly!

The views were sensational and the apartment was fabulous! We were extremely lucky to get fresh baked bread the first morning and the second morning we got home made crossaints. Both mornings we had fresh fruit, yoghurt and condiments. Such an awesome place to end our Honeymoon and 3.5 week trip around New Zealand.

Ideal for nature lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and have kitchen facilities. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than vacation homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
It’s a sweet little lodge. Seems to be recently renovated cause everything is new.
Klaes is the best host I’ve ever had, such a sweet gentleman. Instantly felt at home there!!Definitely recommend.
Claes was a great host and he is attentive and friendly and lives in the property with the other lodgers. It definitely has a bit more a hostel feel, but definitely welcoming and friendly. I stayed over the Christmas period and they had a potluck on Christmas Day which was lovely when you’re solo travellers and a bit deprived of human contact.
The property has big grounds as well as a pool, you can go and look at the pigs and chicken as well as the orchard.
It is pretty chilled and you can do whatever you like really!
Location is excellent, just next to my favorite chocolate factory and very very close to town and I would say you won’t disappoint if you choose this lodge to stay! It’s just wonderful!
The place is awesome and peaceful, the owners are kind and caring. The breakfast was divine and brought in our room.

I had an unforgettable stay at Pāteke Lodge. Tania, the host, was incredibly kind, making the experience even more enjoyable. The place was impeccably clean, beautiful, and had a perfect atmosphere. The delicious and perfect breakfast, coupled with a relaxing soak in the hot tub, added an extra layer of luxury to my stay. Highly recommended for a truly memorable getaway! We'll definitely be back soon for another wonderful getaway!
Everything was exceptional right from the very moment we first made contact. Nothing was an issue. The owners are lovely, welcoming and kind.
So many fine details that we really appreciated having had.
A peaceful afternoon and evening listening to birdsong and finishing our day with a spa was bliss.

The location was perfect, and the staff were very accommodating. We had everything at arms length, which was an added bonus.
My son's loved every momen, from being able to just run around in the grass with the chickens to going and feeding the pigs.
