Loved that the slopes were literally across the street and we could snowboard straight down to the ski lifts. The amenities were clean, and the lodge was super cosy. The host cooked us amazing breakfasts and helped us out when we needed to get in touch with the ski schools.

Its a typical japanese house or ryoukan. A polite old landlady is looking after the property and welcomed you. Since I arrived during off peak season (outside ski and hiking season in May), the property is less crowded and more relax. It is generally clean as typical japanese house. The landlady will ask you when to use bathroom so she can prepare the bath in advance and heat up the water (since its off peak season the heater will only be turned on occasionally and on-demand).

Great value for money property! A short walk from echloland whilst being tucked in amoungst the trees and snow. The courtesy car is a great touch as well! The host is fantastic and goes above and beyond to make your stay a good one.
Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
I was initially skeptical about staying at Tsugaike seeing how the "main" resorts Happo-one and Hakuba 47 are quite a distance away. However, Hai Lodge was everything that previous reviewers had said. Tsugaike is a wonderful resort with many different terrains that would satisfy most people. The place was very well-maintained and clean. Josh and Victoria were wonderful hosts. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Hai Lodge and will definitely stay again next time!
Everything about Canopy Lodge was amazing. Emily and Mike, the owners, were so friendly and accommodating.....alongside the amazing team of staff...absolute shout out to every single one of them! It's such a wonderful place so close to the slopes.
Stand out was Mikes exceptional culinary skills. Freshly baked bread and beautifully put together meals every night.
We couldn't have asked for a better stay. Helped by freshly dumped snow....skiing in the area is incredible!
Truly the best! We can't wait to go back!
Great location right on the slopes near the gondola at Tsaigke Kogen. Very clean, nice staff and everything you need for a basic ski lodge style accommodation. The value for money is excellent and the restaurant within the main building is great and very good food and a great selection of wine and Japanese whisky. Drying room, kitchen, free wifi and shared areas.
Loved that the slopes were literally across the street and we could snowboard straight down to the ski lifts. The amenities were clean, and the lodge was super cosy. The host cooked us amazing breakfasts and helped us out when we needed to get in touch with the ski schools.
the lodge can directly ski to the slope to the chair lift and is 5 minutes walk from tsugaike gondola station and the shuttle bus stop. there are a few restaurant nearby. recommended if you want to ski in tsugaike.
Super close to the gondola. Basically ski-in ski-out. The owners are really nice and hospitable. They have discounted lift prices and can easily grab rental gear for you. Breakfast was delicious, since food was homemade! The lodge aesthetically is beautiful. They have a room to dry and store all your snow equipment. I’m not sure there’s anything else I can say! This place needs to be gatekept. Hope to be back!
Very welcoming atmosphere and approachable staff! Had a great time here and would highly recommend. Hai Lodge is a quick 3 minute walk from Tsugaike gondola, and has shuttle to onsen, other ski fields and grocery store
Everyone at Canopy Lodge was super friendly and went out of their way to make sure everything was great.
If you haven't heard about Mike's cooking already, you're in for an amazing experience. Each meal was incredibly adventurous, tasty and healthy. He also caters to dietary needs.
The atmosphere, and welcoming culture of the staff and guest was phenomenal. Everyone was so friendly and the lodge was set out nicely with plenty of communal areas; pool and Nintendo
