Fresh water, coffee and towels every day in our room. Very friendly staff, calm, comfy bed. But the best: incredible position in the middle of manhattan, nearly everything we wanted to see was just a quick walk away. We didn't want a place with a breakfast buffet as NY is best known for its Delis and bagel cafes, so this was perfect.

Empire State Building
Stretching into the sky at 120 storeys high, the Empire State Building was once the tallest building in the entire world. Not for the faint of heart, its observation deck provides a bird’s-eye view of NYC. Dodge the crowds by visiting between 8 and 11AM, and snap photos uninterrupted with the Big Apple as your backdrop.

Expensive but worth it.
Expensive but worth it. Staff at the top were helpful and knowledgeable about the skyline. Good exhibition about the history of the building. We went on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in August without booking and there was no queue!

Get a city pass with access to the Empire State Building if you can. This will save on the price of entry ticket as well as allowing you to skip the queue on arrival. Well worth it if you are short on time.

Keep in mind that it gets very busy and it's heated during winter, so it can get very hot and crowded inside. I would recommend layering clothes so you can stay an okay temperature during the whole visit.
I wouldn't wait for the elevators as it can get very long, you can always grab the stairs up to the viewing points and it's only 6 flights.

The first time I was at the Empire State was in 1966,I was vey young, and everything overwelmed me,you have to visite the Empire State Building, because it was one of the first Sky-scrapers of the city New York-Manhattan.
The location of this hotel is excellent. Some nice sights nearby, walking distance to the theatre district. Many breakfast options nearby, also very close to the subway.
The room was nice & big, the bed was not that wide (160cm) but slept very well. We had a view of the Empire State building from our window.
Best thing was that the hotel room was very well soundproofed. Did not hear any sound, so slept like a baby.
The breakfast menu has a la carte options although the hotel has and buffet. Perfect location if you need to use metro stations. The room had a perfect view of the Empire state building and was very clean.
The view of the Empire State Building was nice although it was a bit partial. The inside of the room was very nice and the overall feel of the hotel was fun yet smart.
Incredible location- walking distance to so many landmarks including Empire State building, Chelsea Highline, Rockafella Centre, Central Park, The Edge etc.
Fantastic restaurant attached to hotel with wonderful, helpful staff, lovely food and lively atmosphere.
The apartment is huge for NY! Super spacious and comfortable bed, large lounge area with comfy couch. Didn’t have time to watch tv!
View from the bed was the Empire State Building! Nice bathroom. Had safe in cupboard.
Staff were lovely and stored our luggage on the last day.
Great location and easy to get to main area.
Would stay again!
The location is very ideal ! Indeed the hotel is at 10 minutes walk from Times Square and 15 minutes walk from the Empire State Building, very well located ! The subway is at 2 minutes wallk, very near by. The room was OK for 4 people, a bit difficult to pack all the stuff but we dealt with it. The breakfast was very good. Everyday there were different plates, warm and cold ones.
The views are the best thing about this hotel - looking straight at the Empire State building is hard to beat. The rooms are very compact but somehow just enough space if you just want somewhere to crash. Free coffee in the mornings was nice and the location is really great for sightseeing and shopping. Overall it was clean and a decent place to stay if you want something basic.
Amazing location in Chelsea, 4 minute walk to 23rd St subway station. Every morning you receive complimentary coffee, bottled water and one of pastry/juice/yoghurt. Beautiful reception area. Rooms were super cleaned and cleaned well each day. Overall very modern hotel. Views of the Empire State Building from outside of hotel and rooftop. Would definitely stay again.
Location was perfect only a 15 min walk to centre of everything very close to empire state building so we used this as our point to manoeuvring the city
Hotel room was clean
bathroom products were of good quality
We loved the Kitano! The staff were super friendly and attentive, they made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Our room was spacious and had an incredible view of the Empire State Building. The location of this hotel is perfect for exploring NYC, it’s a quiet street and felt very safe.

If you want to avoid the crowds then I suggest going very early or late. My best suggestion is to do the Empire State Building at night. I went at 11.30 and didn't wait in line at all!! It's also open til 2am.

Check if you can book in advance.
Check if you can book in advance. The best thing we found was booking a time slot early in the day (at Rockefella and 9/11 Memorial) and returning later in the day after experiencing places where you didn't have to queue (Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge). This meant we didn't waste half our day queueing for an attraction (queues for Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building were horrendous and did not offer the option to book a time).
