The hotel was amazing and the staff were so friendly. We booked New York for my 30th birthday and staying at this hotel made it really special. The staff helped my partner arrange flowers and balloons on the day of my birthday and this was really appreciated.
The room was exceptionally clean and had really good facilities, we really couldn’t list anything that we didn’t like or we think could be improved. We have recommended The Wallace to my brother in law and his wife and they have booked for later in the year.
Thank you to all the staff at the Wallace for making my 30th birthday and our New York trip so special!

Empire State Building
Stretching into the sky at 120 storeys high, the Empire State Building was once the tallest building in the entire world. Not for the faint of heart, its observation deck provides a bird’s-eye view of NYC. Dodge the crowds by visiting between 8 and 11AM, and snap photos uninterrupted with the Big Apple as your backdrop.

Expensive but worth it.
Expensive but worth it. Staff at the top were helpful and knowledgeable about the skyline. Good exhibition about the history of the building. We went on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in August without booking and there was no queue!

Get a city pass with access to the Empire State Building if you can. This will save on the price of entry ticket as well as allowing you to skip the queue on arrival. Well worth it if you are short on time.

Keep in mind that it gets very busy and it's heated during winter, so it can get very hot and crowded inside. I would recommend layering clothes so you can stay an okay temperature during the whole visit.
I wouldn't wait for the elevators as it can get very long, you can always grab the stairs up to the viewing points and it's only 6 flights.

Be prepared to wait.. In line..for a LONG time.
Be prepared to wait.. In line..for a LONG time. The views at the top are phenomal, it really has a beautiful city scape view, but we spent hours queuing here and it is very badly organised.. There were two queue lines, but everyone queued on one side only as there was no one available to tell us where to go.. Then folks from the very back of the queue decided to go into the other queue line, and skipped past all of us who had been waiting for hours. Very unfair but no-one was on hand to organise the crowd

The location is very ideal ! Indeed the hotel is at 10 minutes walk from Times Square and 15 minutes walk from the Empire State Building, very well located ! The subway is at 2 minutes wallk, very near by. The room was OK for 4 people, a bit difficult to pack all the stuff but we dealt with it. The breakfast was very good. Everyday there were different plates, warm and cold ones.
The views are the best thing about this hotel - looking straight at the Empire State building is hard to beat. The rooms are very compact but somehow just enough space if you just want somewhere to crash. Free coffee in the mornings was nice and the location is really great for sightseeing and shopping. Overall it was clean and a decent place to stay if you want something basic.
Amazing location in Chelsea, 4 minute walk to 23rd St subway station. Every morning you receive complimentary coffee, bottled water and one of pastry/juice/yoghurt. Beautiful reception area. Rooms were super cleaned and cleaned well each day. Overall very modern hotel. Views of the Empire State Building from outside of hotel and rooftop. Would definitely stay again.
Location was perfect only a 15 min walk to centre of everything very close to empire state building so we used this as our point to manoeuvring the city
Hotel room was clean
bathroom products were of good quality
We loved the Kitano! The staff were super friendly and attentive, they made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Our room was spacious and had an incredible view of the Empire State Building. The location of this hotel is perfect for exploring NYC, it’s a quiet street and felt very safe.
It’s right in the centre of Times Square, accessible to all restaurants, tourists attractions such as Empire State Building, Central Park, Radio city, 5th Ave, plaza hotel, Macy’s, madame Tussaud , Rockefeller centre and many more within walking distance
Really good location, walking distance from a lot but also very well connected with subway lines and bus stops to get to most other parts of the city. View from the room of the Empire State Building was great too. Hotel staff were also friendly and quick to fix any issues I had regarding a misunderstanding about a payment made through booking.com and my tv in my room stopping working.
The location of the hotel in Nolita is perfect if you want to avoid the crowds, noise, lights and mayhem of Midtown and Times Square. It is perfect to explore China Town, Little Italy and Soho. The view from our 7th floor bedroom window was sensational - seeing the Empire State Building lit up at night, what's not to like? There was plenty of hot water for the spacious shower (not much storage space though).
I really enjoyed my stay at the U Hotel. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, TY in particular, he‘s amazing and has great tips, he creates a great atmosphere and is the reason many guests would return to the Hotel.
The location is excellent, you can walk to many places and if you need the subway it is not far away. From the room you can enjoy an excellent view of the Empire State Building. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The hotel is highly recommended.
The Hotel was busy but really clean. Location was perfect. Right beside the Empire State Building. For the price we paid for four of us it was great value for New York. Staff were friendly. Would stay again.

If you want to avoid the crowds then I suggest going very early or late. My best suggestion is to do the Empire State Building at night. I went at 11.30 and didn't wait in line at all!! It's also open til 2am.

Check if you can book in advance.
Check if you can book in advance. The best thing we found was booking a time slot early in the day (at Rockefella and 9/11 Memorial) and returning later in the day after experiencing places where you didn't have to queue (Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge). This meant we didn't waste half our day queueing for an attraction (queues for Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building were horrendous and did not offer the option to book a time).
