Blue Mosque
Constructed between 1609 and 1616, the striking Sultan Ahmed Mosqueo—or "Blue Mosque"—is still a place of worship today. With no war victories to fund it, this expensive structure had to be paid for straight from the treasury – angering the Ottoman legal scholars of the time. Non-Muslim visitors are encouraged to visit, but should be respectful of the strict dress code.

One of the most sought after architectural wonders.
One of the most sought after architectural wonders. It’s free. But dress appropriately. No bare shoulders, no bare knees and women need a scarf to cover their heads. Best to go prepared but you will also need given disposable covers at the entrance.

There are many many well dressed VERY friendly and helpful men willing to show you around, avoid them, do not talk to them! They are all trying to sell you something. They can get aggressive if you engage them and the try to leave, best to avoid them and keep walking.

As a Lego enthusiast, my visit to the Blue Mosque in...
As a Lego enthusiast, my visit to the Blue Mosque in Istanbul was an experience filled with admiration and inspiration. The architectural grandeur and intricate design of the mosque immediately sparked ideas of how such a masterpiece could be recreated in Lego form.
The Blue Mosque, with its cascading domes and six slender minarets, presents a fascinating challenge from a Lego-building perspective. The symmetry and balance in its design, a hallmark of Islamic architecture, would require careful planning and a keen eye for detail to replicate using Lego bricks. The mosque's exterior, characterized by its harmonious proportions and majestic curves, would be an exciting and rewarding project to undertake, demanding the use of various shapes and sizes of Lego pieces.
Inside, the mosque's vast interior, dominated by the large central dome, is adorned with thousands of blue Iznik tiles. Capturing the essence of this intricate tile work in Lego would be a remarkable feat. The play of light through the 260 stained glass windows, which adds a dynamic element to the mosque's interior, could be imaginatively recreated using translucent Lego pieces to simulate the effect of light filtering through.
Moreover, the challenge of recreating the spiritual and serene ambiance of the mosque in a Lego model is intriguing. While Lego is often seen as a playful medium, it also offers immense potential for creating models that evoke a sense of reverence and peace, much like the atmosphere inside the Blue Mosque.
In essence, the Blue Mosque, as a subject for a Lego model, offers a rich blend of architectural complexity, historical depth, and artistic beauty. It stands as a testament to the creative possibilities that Lego offers to builders who are passionate about capturing the essence of the world's architectural wonders in brick form.

Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination...
Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. This is the first time I entered inside Blue Mosque. It was 28 July 2023, Friday, we went inside Blue mosque before Jummah Prayer. We performed Jummah prayer and felt very blessed.

Only 1 word that comes to my mind when rating Aristocrat hotel is Superb.Every one at the hotel Mekan at the lobby,Erkin,Rohat,Ahmet at the reception always ready to greet you and help you.Specially the Owner Mr Emrah is very polite and nice person. The Hotel is centrally located at Sultanahmet walking distance to Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, topkapi Palace and basilica cistern is 4 minutes only.Must stay at this hotel if you are planning to visit Istanbul.
We just spent a wonderful 24 hours in Istanbul, staying once again at our favorite Hotel Nena. Their location could not be better for visiting Haggia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the Grand Bazaar and just generally enjoying the Sultanahmet District, great restaurants, baklava, shops, etc. The staff at HN is so friendly and helpful, the rooms are very comfortable and their breakfast is amazing. We can't wait for our next visit!
The service was exceptional, and so was the property because of its location pretty much a 10 min walk to Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Grand Bazaar. Very comfortable and spacious room, good breakfast, and overall a great experience. Many options nearby for food, travel (taxi stand right next to the hotel), and a good place to walk around and experience Istanbul. Would highly recommend the place.
This hotel is amazing. It matches the description and pictures. Small cozy rooms, but sufficient for a stay in Istanbul, if you are traveling as a tourist. Exceptionally clean, bathroom and shower on the spot. Breakfast was really good, it is in the concept of Turkish breakfast (regarding the food), so I enjoyed it. It is also on the roof terrace and has an amazing view of both the Blue Mosque and Bosphorus. Location is, I think perfect, literally 2mins to Sultanahmet and Blue Mosque. Saved this hotel for the next time.
The room was incredibly comfortable, and the upgrade was a lifesaver since Istanbul was our final destination and we needed space to repack. The hotel restaurant was excellent, and the breakfast staff were friendly and funny. The hotel’s location was perfect—just a 5-10 minute walk to major attractions like the Basilica Cistern, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Topkapi Palace. There were also great restaurants right outside, and other spots like the Grand Bazaar and Hafiz Mustafa were nearby as well.
This is a hard review to write because the staff was so wonderful it is hard to disparage, but the hotel needs some changes before I would recommend them. We stayed in the family room with connecting door
+ Super Friendly, helpful Staff
+ Fabulous location 5-10 minutes from Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque - - basically everything you want to see in Istanbul
+ Very clean
+ Great views from the breakfast room
There is nothing to worry about your stay in this city if you booked at this hotel. They will let you introduce and let you know when, what, where and everything you needed for your trip. You could feel the best atmosphere since you arrived at here. All the staff in this hotel are very helpful and friendly taking care of your needs. Hotel’s location is excellent and peaceful, 10 minutes walk to main attractions (Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar) I would definitely recommend this hotel for your stay in Istanbul.
The hotel’s location in the heart of Sultanahmet is unbeatable—just a short walk to iconic landmarks like the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. The bell team and staff were exceptionally attentive and made us feel genuinely welcomed, going above and beyond to ensure our comfort. The rooms were impeccably clean, spacious, and adorned with plush furnishings, offering a serene retreat after a day of exploring Istanbul.
My stay here was wonderful. Nesrin, the host, went out of her way to be helpful, friendly and accommodating, especially when I had problems with my original flight being cancelled. The location could not have been better, just a few minutes' walk from the Blue Mosque but on a street that was nice and quiet. The apartment itself was very clean and comfortable, with good facilities and everything you could want for a short stay in Istanbul. Would highly recommend.
Its basically a small apartment in the heart of Sultnahmet. It was a perfect place for a 15 hour layover at Istanbul. Location was very central to popular destinations such as Blue Mosque, Haya Sofia etc. We took round trip airport transfer and it was smoothly arranged even at 5AM in the morning for drop off, costs 70e. You can also exchange Turkish Liras from the property manager if required. Very professional and helpful behavior.
