Nothing great -- we weren't able to go inside so it was just a tour of the outside of the buildings. The best site was the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, which was stunning, but you weren't able to take any pictures of the buddha itself.

Very beautiful but very crowded.
Very beautiful but very crowded. Many other temples and palaces in the city are as beautiful and less crowded making for a nicer experience. The traditional dance experience included in entrance ticket the best, don't miss.

I think there is enough written about this incredible place but I want to put some light on "Queen Sirikit Textile Museum" which is easily overlooked because it is not well known and it's is a bit hidden on the grounds of the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew. The entrance ticket for the Grand Palace is also valid for the textile Museum but you are also able to visit the Museum on its own for 150 THB.
It is situated in a beautifully restored colonial-style 2 story building from 1870 which was the former Ministry of Finance.
The museum collects, displays and preserves textiles from South East-, South- and East-Asia with a special emphasis on textiles and garments from the Royal Court since ~1960. It's beautifully arranged with a lot of interactive information on numerous little touch-screens! It was Queen Sirikit's endeavor to rediscover almost lost Thai textile- and fabric-making and revived these processes all over the country.
The museum also hosts an education studio, a lecture hall and Thailands first dedicated textile conservation lab. In the Museum shop on the ground floor you can buy high quality textiles, accessories, table cloths, shawls, silk by meter and many more beautiful items.
The intricacy of different techniques of fabric weaving is incredible and explains why these pieces of art are so expensive and unique!

Looked forward to seeing the Grand palace but wouldn’t allow...
Looked forward to seeing the Grand palace but wouldn’t allow us to enter due to dress code ! Please note we had full length trousers and full length top with additional long scarf around arms and shoulders. We were shouted at to leave as scarves don’t class as cover up. (No skin was visible apart from our faces) we entered peacefully and left without questioning) this was just myself and my 22 year old daughter. Perhaps if the scarf was purchased from one of the vendors outside this may have changed their view about letting us enter. I researched the dress code well in advance and made sure we were entering with correct wear. Disappointed ☹️

Wow! A+ Hostel !!! Very clean, bed and pillow very comfortable better than others place that may too soft and hurts my back and neck. mattress are top qualities and blankets towels are wash daily, they are managers , staffs and housekeeping always in reach to serve you. Bathrooms very clean and the location close by boat ride fast commute to the Mall by boat on top of plenty of Took Took , taxi and bus, the Grand palace, museum market etc in walking distance. we will be back and recommend to other to stay at Chai Wat 10 out of 10 :) love them
It's a new hotel in the older part of town, clean, and comfortable. The staff were very helpful, including with getting laundry and pressing done in-house. Bangkok's traffic is a nightmare, so being near the major cultural sites, such as the Grand Palace, royal temples, and National Museum, is a plus if you are interested in arts and culture. Incidentally, the hotel does not work with a local company for hiring a car and driver, so you have to do that on your own. I will stay here again when I return to Bangkok.
We stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks. The hotel is centrally located next to many tourist attractions. It took us 40 minutes to walk to the Grand Palace and much less to other sites. Even though there were taxis, we used Grab, and tuck tuck , we walked everywhere most of the time as we like to explore on foot. The hotel staff at the lobby and the restaurant across the street where we mostly ate a very good and varied breakfast were very friendly. We loved to talk with Asia from the lobby who was always very accommodating and ready to help.
Staff is nice, although there is no one always at front desk, they wait for you there on your arrival and available by texting. They have basic amenities like soap, shampoo, slippers and drinking water (trust me, some hotels in Thailand don't have all of them). The bathroom has shower curtains! This is not super common in Thailand. And the location is just perfect - walking distance to two piers and metro blue line, longer walk or grabbike distance to The Grand Palace.
The location was a very easy walk to Khaosan Road for massages, street food and bars. We walked about 30 minutes to the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and easy river access to Wat Arun. We also enjoyed a drink one evening from the rooftop bar. The hotel had the best buffet breakfast we encountered on our 2 week stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
The location was great- easy 5 min walk to the river N13 stop to hop on the Express boat which took you to the Grand Palace and other tourist sites. Close to Khao San Road and I could also walk to the National Museum.
The Room/shower were clean (with en-suite bathroom which is a plus!), breakfast every morning, and the woman who owns it is lovely and organized a lot of activities for the guests to do. The crowd tended to skew younger being close to Khao San road, but it was social without being a party hostel. I would stay here again.
Location with view of Wat Arun or Temple of Dawn across the river! Walking distance to Grand Palace and Wat Po and easy access to attractions by boat and car. Breakfast is wonderful with choices of Thai cuisine and western cuisine (made to order). It's a boutique hotel with 6 rooms which I like.
