The Makathanee Resort Hotel on the beautiful Island of Koh Mak still has the best location there is. Sure, you can find other properties that could be argued better but they cannot beat the location and price value of the Makathanee. From the moment you arrive you are warmly greeted by our good friends Wow, Syfa and Phon. They all speak perfect English and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcomed immediately. On a daily basis Da, Da & Lee keep your room clean and make sure all your amenities are restocked. If you head up to the the "Head in the Clouds" bar/lounge and deck overlooking the perfect sunset you will meet Som who will happily take care of all your food and beverage needs as you watch the sunset and the sky get painted in amazing colors. Extremely Excellent value for you spending dollars In Summarization - you will be hard pressed to find a better located resort than the Makathanee and we highly recommend this property to you. The price of this property is more than fair and you would be hard pressed to get this kind of value on any other Island in Thailand.

Sea view rooms were not the closest to the beach but the bungalows in front are so far apart that the view was still quite spectacular from our porch. We were able to snorkel right off the nearby pier and see as many different fish as we saw on a four island snorkeling trip from Koh Chang. The beach right in front of the resort was excellent. The resort was steps away from many stores, restaurants and shops. The property gave us free transport to our next stay on the island. We liked the laid back vibe of Miss You bar which had a pool table right on the beach. If we wanted more upscale, that was just a few steps away on either side.

The location, the vast sandy beach , the sunsets and happy hour. Close to street food, restaurants, massage and convenient stores. The villa was perfect with daisies on the towels, big comfy bed and tucked in the trees like a jungle. I cried with joy when the taxi dropped me off.

Clean, modern, scenic

Gorgeous property! The view of the ocean from our room was stunning. The room was spacious, clean and modern. The staff was very friendly and helpful with things like booking a snorkeling excursion and the ferries. Breakfast was good.
