Sea view rooms were not the closest to the beach but the bungalows in front are so far apart that the view was still quite spectacular from our porch. We were able to snorkel right off the nearby pier and see as many different fish as we saw on a four island snorkeling trip from Koh Chang. The beach right in front of the resort was excellent. The resort was steps away from many stores, restaurants and shops. The property gave us free transport to our next stay on the island. We liked the laid back vibe of Miss You bar which had a pool table right on the beach. If we wanted more upscale, that was just a few steps away on either side.

The Makathanee Resort Hotel on the beautiful Island of Koh Mak still has the best location there is. Sure, you can find other properties that could be argued better but they cannot beat the location and price value of the Makathanee.
From the moment you arrive you are warmly greeted by our good friends Wow, Syfa and Phon. They all speak perfect English and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcomed immediately. On a daily basis Da, Da & Lee keep your room clean and make sure all your amenities are restocked. If you head up to the the "Head in the Clouds" bar/lounge and deck overlooking the perfect sunset you will meet Som who will happily take care of all your food and beverage needs as you watch the sunset and the sky get painted in amazing colors.

The location, the vast sandy beach , the sunsets and happy hour. Close to street food, restaurants, massage and convenient stores. The villa was perfect with daisies on the towels, big comfy bed and tucked in the trees like a jungle. I cried with joy when the taxi dropped me off.

All rooms are literally a couple of meters from the sea. You'll fall asleep with the sound of the waves. The beautiful, artisanal, wooden stilt houses integrate wonderfully in the surroundings. The resort, located on the southern end of the island, is far off from the hustle and bustle, and is family-run by a couple of adorable Thai ladies. This resort, despite being very basic, has a genuine, Thai charm and might just be the place you'll miss the most coming back home from your holiday.

Very small island which is still kind of rural and not very touristy. That also means that there are not many amenities or fun things you can do. Accommodations are more basic, food or bar options are limited, and you've seen all of the island in a few hours. But you can also have a perfect chill time without any noisy tourist crowds or big loud party areas. Beaches are great. If you want more action, just take the ferry to Ko Chang (once a day).

No help alone no one on duty. No food stranded as too dark at night to venture out.still recovering from over 300 hundred bites some bed bugs & sandflys.
The horror of cockroaches bed bugs centipedes etc Dark garden trying to get dinner Two dog attacks.
Booking . Com were no help with the airline change time of plane . I paid new flight & 3 hours £30 phone calls.Or my plea not the room I booked.

Nice quiet island but very expensive compared to other places in Thailand. There's only a couple roads easy to explore the whole island in one day. Just make sure to bring a lot of bug spray the sand flies and mosquitoes eat humans all the time- thai or foreigner- best resort hands is seavana

Really nice and chill island, it's laid back and a great place for a break but you can also do activities such as snorkeling and diving. There's not loads to do but it's exactly what we were looking for, a little island paradise. Plenty of restaurants but not many bars. A day trip to Koh Kham is an absolute must! "The Ball Cafe" and "Pak Pak Vegan" are great cafés. Try "M.A. Bistro" for upmarket dinner or "Khun Mam's Kitchen" for an authentic Thai meal.

They have the best sunrise/sunset on Koh Mak thanks to their unique location.
The room itself is very modern, with mosquito nets on the windows and doors, so you can sleep with open windows to the sound of the sea.
Comfortable bed, the receptionist lady is very helpful with a big smile.
The restaurant is nice but we mostly had breakfast here.
The AC worked great. There is no beach but we prefer visiting as many as we can anyway, so it was no problem.
There were a few bugs in the room, but it was manageble.
Nice apartment in second floor with sea view over the bungalow roofs 👍. Very comfy beds. Very good breakfast, with freshly baked chicken eggs/ pan cakes. Breakfast restaurant with nice location next to the sea ❤️. Hotel in good location, some restaurants within few minutes and a shop also. Hotel has own pier of speed boats to reach Koh Kood or Chang. Nice beach 🌊🏖.
Great Hotel! Noi and her staff were so kind and accommodating. We came with our 1 year old, and the staff eagerly helped lend a hand with her. Location not on the beach, but it's a 5 min walk. Or you can rent a scooter and get anywhere on the island in under 10 mins. Rooms were new, very clean, and sufficient for our needs. Would definitely return again.
