Lake Bled has been a serene presence in Slovenia since the last Ice Age, and is a perfect destination for indulging in long, lakeside walks next to calm emerald waters. Don’t forget to head out to Bled Island too, where you’ll find a grand 17th Century church – it’s said you’ll be granted a wish if you ring the church’s bell, and what’s the harm in trying?
