We loved the hotel’s rural setting, high above Funchal, its old world luxury, and the quality of service offered by the staff. Best of all was the direct access to the extraordinary adjacent Palheiro garden. A very special hotel.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and was not disappointed. They poped into our room some champagne and decorated our bed with flower petals.
The room was spacious and clean. Comfortable bed and good shower.
The pool are was lovely. They also had a gorgeous rock pool area where you could swim in the sea and snorkel and relax on the sunbeds which was probably our favourite bit about the hotel. I have never seen so much fish in my life while snorkeling here. It is right beside a reef and very safe with life guards.
Breakfast was great with a lovely balcony view of the ocean.
Staff were lovely at check in and check out. It was perfect. I would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely amazing. Beautiful hotel, really lovely pool area with views of the sea. Room was really great too and one of the best hotel beds I’ve slept in. Hotel staff so helpful and friendly. Would definitely go back again
