This is a perfect location for visiting Hobbiton or seeing the local scenery of the region. The unit was a spacious two bedroom addition to a family home with a lovely view from the deck in the back. Perfect for larger groups and much better deal than booking multiple hotel rooms further away.

The view spectacular. The house was really warm, clean & tidy. Was great for a short stay.

The breakfast one made bread and jams were amazing. The owners were very friendly as well as their adorable pup, Hunter. They also had a lot of information about their property and local things to do and restaurants near by.

The set was interesting but we were lucky to book a Banquet Tour - this was so much more enjoyable as not only do you do the walking tour in daylight - you see it after dark when everything is lit with lanterns and the banquet was amazing food with generous Hobit style servings

Do the evening dinner tour and wear comfortable shoes as a bit of walking over some rough terrain to travel through the movie set.
Very good tour staff and very interesting information about Lord of the Rings.

Hobbiton Movie Set was a revelation, it was so fantastic, I would recommend that everyone make the effort to got and see it. They have big busses that take you and your buses tour guide from the base, cafe and booking offices, to the actual film sets, and the guide gives a comprehensive running commentary about many aspects of the filming of Lord Of The Rings, and The Hobbit. I loved it, and now will watch the movies with much more understanding. A big thumbs up from us 3 older ladies.

Went there a day earlier than planned but this was no problem to the staff. They just shifted us to a visit that day and then we had time for some lunch before getting on a bus and being driven to Hobbit site. Our guide was very good and kept us moving along with an excellent knowledge of the Hobbit sets.

This is a must if you go to New Zealand.
This is a must if you go to New Zealand. It's not a tourist trap. It's a nice 2 hour tour with a dedicated guide. Interesting anecdotes about the filming of the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. Even if you aren't a fan you should go but don't forget to book your slot well in advance ! You should stay a night at the Country Retreat BnB in Matamata. Sheryl and Greg have a beautiful place only 5min away and they'll treat you (and feed you) so well that you won't want to leave !! Blue Spring is a short drive away from Hobbiton ...

Very nice spacious one bedroom with a dining area. I liked the space in a detached garage loft. The hostess was extremely gracious. Also it's very close to town and the Hobbiton Movie Set.
Pleasant and quiet Motel with helpful staff.
Rooms are dated but adequately furnished with most necessities.
Easy walking distance into town for dinner.
